Connect Connecteam and Google Sheets

Connecteam's time clock records when your deskless team starts and ends a shift, and when an admin changes an entry. FlowMattic writes those events to Google Sheets: a timesheet row per shift, a review tab for automatic clock outs and an audit log of edits, ready for whoever runs payroll from a spreadsheet.

When Connecteam fires Clock In, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

Connecteam and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every Connecteam clock in to a timesheet

Each clock in adds a row with the employee, job, location and start time, so the site manager can see who is on shift right now from a shared sheet.

Complete the shift row at clock out

Clock Out finds the open row for that employee and writes the end time, so each shift is one row with a start and an end that payroll can total.

Flag automatic clock outs for a supervisor to check

An automatic clock out usually means someone forgot to clock out. The shift goes to a review tab and the supervisor gets an email to confirm the real end time.

Keep an audit log of admin time edits

Every time an admin edits a time activity, the change is logged with the employee and date. When a worker questions a payslip, the history is there.

Record approved clock outs outside the geofence

Field teams sometimes finish away from the site. Each approved exception is logged, so managers can spot jobs or people where it happens often.

Start a new timesheet tab each pay week

Format the clock in date as a week label and use it as the sheet name, so each pay period has its own tab and nothing needs moving before payroll runs.

Set up: clock ins on a timesheet

At the end, every clock in on your Connecteam time clock adds a row to your timesheet sheet.

  1. Prepare the timesheet

Create a sheet with Employee, Job, Location, Clock in and Clock out columns, leaving Clock out for the second workflow.

  2. Trigger on Clock In

Create a workflow with Connecteam and Clock In, and connect the time clock the trigger asks for.

  3. Clock in once

Clock in from the Connecteam app on a test user so FlowMattic captures the event's fields.

  4. Write the row

Connect Google Sheets, add Add New Row, map the employee, job and start time to the columns, test and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • To pair a clock out with its clock in, store a value both events share, such as the time activity ID or the user ID with the date, and look that up at clock out.
  • Automatic clock outs are their own trigger. If you only build the Clock Out workflow, shifts ended automatically stay open in the sheet.
  • The sheet is a copy for reporting. Editing a time in the sheet does not change the entry in Connecteam.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Connecteam and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Payroll from a sheet you control

Bookkeepers who already run payroll in a spreadsheet get shift data in it, without exporting a report from Connecteam each period.

Staff data stays on your server

Names, locations and times go from Connecteam through your own WordPress site to Google, not through an outside automation account.

Every shift logged at one price

Runs are unlimited, so a team clocking in and out across several sites costs nothing more to log.

Common questions

Can I build a full timesheet with start and end times?

Yes. Use Clock In to add the row and Clock Out, with Lookup Row Data and Update Row, to fill in the end time. Add Auto Clock Out the same way so no shift is left open.

Can I track changes admins make to time entries?

Yes. Admin Add, Admin Edit and Admin Delete each start a workflow, so you can log every manual change to time activities in an audit tab.

What about requests employees submit for approval?

Triggers such as Admin Approved Add Request, Admin Approved Edit Request and Admin Declined Request let you log the outcome of each request next to the shift it changed.

Can each site or job get its own tab?

Yes. Add a Router on the job or location field and point each path's Add New Row at that site's tab.
