Connect Stripe and WooCommerce

Plenty of stores sell through WooCommerce checkout and also bill some customers straight from Stripe, with invoices, payment links or hand-made subscriptions. FlowMattic keeps the two in step: new Stripe products become store products, store customers get one Stripe record each, and money taken outside the checkout still shows up as a WooCommerce order.

When Stripe fires New Product Created, FlowMattic runs Create New Product in WooCommerce with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Stripe and WooCommerce workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Create a WooCommerce product for each new Stripe product

Products set up in the Stripe dashboard appear in the store with the same name and description, so you describe each item once instead of typing it into two systems.

Record invoice and payment link charges as store orders

Money collected through a Stripe invoice or payment link lands in WooCommerce as an order, so stock, sales reports and the customer's order history include it.

Give every new store customer one Stripe customer record

Search Stripe by email first and create the customer only when nothing comes back, so later invoices and subscriptions attach to a single record per person.

Put a Stripe payment link on orders waiting for payment

When an order sits on hold, for example an unpaid bank transfer, create a price and a payment link for the total and save the link in an order note your team can send.

Note on the last order when a Stripe subscription ends

Subscription events carry the Stripe customer ID, not an email. Look the customer up, find their store account and leave a note on their latest order for support to see.

Match each store coupon with a Stripe coupon

A discount code made for a store campaign gets a twin in Stripe, so customers billed by Stripe invoice can be given the same offer.

Update the Stripe customer when store details change

When a customer edits their billing address or phone in their account, the Stripe record follows, so the next invoice goes out with current details.

Set up: Stripe products in the store

At the end, each product you add in Stripe is created in WooCommerce with its name and description filled in.

  1. Connect Stripe

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add your Stripe account. WooCommerce runs on this site and needs no connection.

  2. Trigger on New Product Created

Create a workflow with the Stripe New Product Created trigger, then add a test product in Stripe so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  3. Add Create New Product

Add a WooCommerce step with Create New Product and map the Stripe name, description and product ID to the store fields.

  4. Test and switch on

Test the step, open the new product in WooCommerce to check it, set its price if needed and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Stripe amounts arrive in the smallest currency unit, so 4900 means 49.00. Run them through Number Formatter before using them as a price or order total.
  • A Stripe product keeps its price as a separate object. If the trigger brings only a price ID, look it up with Find Price before you set the store price.
  • If your checkout also uses Stripe, New Charge fires for those payments too. Filter on the charge description or metadata so checkout orders are not created twice.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Stripe and WooCommerce connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Every sale shows up in the store

Charges taken through invoices and payment links become orders, so WooCommerce reports cover what Stripe collected outside the checkout.

Payment data stays on your server

Customer and charge details pass from Stripe to WooCommerce through your own WordPress site, with unlimited runs on every plan.

Both apps can start the workflow

Stripe events can change the store, and store events can create Stripe customers, prices, coupons and payment links.

Common questions

Does this replace the Stripe payment gateway in WooCommerce?

No. The gateway takes payments at checkout. These workflows handle what happens around it: products, customers, coupons and payments made outside the store, such as invoices and payment links created in Stripe.

Can a Stripe charge create a WooCommerce order?

Yes. Start with New Charge, find the store customer with Get Customer by Email, then add Create New Order with the product and total. Put a Filter in front so only charges from invoices or payment links become orders.

How do I keep one Stripe customer per store customer?

Search first. Find Customer by Email returns the existing Stripe record, and a Filter lets Create Customer run only when nothing was found. Customers who use a different email in each place will still become two records.

Can I choose which Stripe products reach the store?

Yes. Add a Filter after New Product Created, for example on a metadata value or a word in the name, so only products meant for the shop are created. The rest stay in Stripe for invoicing.

Can store events manage Stripe subscriptions?

Yes, within the actions listed. A store event can run Create Subscription or Cancel Subscription in Stripe, and Stripe triggers such as New Subscription and Subscription Deleted can add notes in the store. Billing itself stays with Stripe.
