Create new tasks in ClickUp from items in monday.com
When an item is created on monday.com, this workflow creates a task in ClickUp from it, so teams that plan in monday.com and deliver in ClickUp see the same new work without copying it over.

What this workflow does
Some companies end up with two project tools. Account managers plan in monday.com while the delivery team works in ClickUp, or an agency uses one tool and its client uses the other. New work then has to be entered twice. This workflow copies each new monday.com item into ClickUp as a task.
As soon as someone adds an item to a board, the Monday.com trigger picks it up. FlowMattic receives the item data and passes it to ClickUp, where the Create Task action adds a new task. You map item details such as its name into the task, so the delivery team knows what came in.
The link only runs one way and only at creation. Renaming the item, changing its status or closing the ClickUp task does not update the other tool. Every new item starts a run, which you can review in Task History.
Sales handoff to delivery
Account managers add a new project item on monday.com when a deal closes, and the delivery team gets a matching ClickUp task to start planning.
Agency and client on different tools
Your client logs requests on their monday.com board. Each request appears as a task in your agency's ClickUp workspace.
Moving teams between tools gradually
While one team is still on monday.com, new items still reach the ClickUp workspace the rest of the company has switched to.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Monday.com Item CreationStarts each time someone adds a new item on monday.com. The item's data is passed on so you can map it into the ClickUp task.
ClickUp Create TaskCreates a task in ClickUp for the new monday.com item. Connect ClickUp and map the item details into the task; a test run shows the options the step gives you.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Monday.com AccountAccount
- ClickUp AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a Filter after the trigger if only items from a certain group or with a certain value should become ClickUp tasks.
- Map the monday.com item ID or link into the task as well, if the trigger data has one, so people can find the original item.
- Create a test item on your monday.com board after import so FlowMattic captures its data, then map those fields in the ClickUp step.
Questions about this workflow
Do updates on the monday.com item reach the ClickUp task?
No. The trigger only fires when an item is created. Later edits stay in monday.com, and FlowMattic lists other monday.com triggers, such as Item Name Changes, if you want to build that separately.
Are existing monday.com items turned into ClickUp tasks?
No. Only items created after the workflow is turned on create tasks.
Will subitems on monday.com create ClickUp tasks too?
Not with this trigger. FlowMattic has a separate Subitem Created trigger for monday.com that you can use in another workflow.
What happens when a ClickUp task is completed?
Nothing changes on monday.com. The workflow only sends data from monday.com to ClickUp.
