When a new form submission is received in Gravity Forms, check if the email is valid using MailRefine, and create new contact in Autonami

Each Gravity Forms submission has its email address checked with MailRefine, and the person is then added as a new contact in FunnelKit Automations (Autonami) with the verification result available to map.

The When a new form submission is received in Gravity Forms, check if the email is valid using MailRefine, and create new contact in Autonami workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across Gravity Forms, MailRefine, Autonami
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

FunnelKit Automations sends your emails from WordPress, so bad addresses in the contact list mean bounces and wasted sends. Checking each address when the form is submitted tells you early which contacts may be fake or mistyped. This workflow verifies every Gravity Forms email before the contact is created.

Every new entry in Gravity Forms starts a run. FlowMattic passes the email field to MailRefine, whose Verify Single Email action checks the address and returns a result. The last step creates a new contact in Autonami from the form answers.

Note what the template doesn't do: it has no Filter, so every submission becomes a contact whatever MailRefine says. The check gives you a result to record or act on. To keep invalid addresses out of FunnelKit, add a Filter between MailRefine and Autonami, as the tips describe.

Webinar sign-ups into a FunnelKit sequence

Registrants fill in a Gravity Forms sign-up. Their address is checked first, so you know which contacts entering your reminder emails gave a working address.

Lead forms on a services site

Quote requests from Gravity Forms become FunnelKit contacts. With a Filter added, only addresses MailRefine marks valid go on to your nurture emails.

Gated content downloads

Visitors trade an email for a guide. MailRefine flags throwaway or mistyped addresses before the contact is created in FunnelKit.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Gravity Forms New Form Submission

Runs for each new Gravity Forms entry on your site. The submitted email and the other answers become available to the MailRefine and Autonami steps.

  2. Step 2Action
    MailRefine Verify Single Email

Passes the entry's email address to MailRefine's Verify Single Email check. Link the MailRefine account that pays for the checks, then point the step at the Gravity Forms email answer. The verification response can be mapped in the next step.

  3. Step 3Action
    Autonami Create New Contact

Creates a new contact in FunnelKit Automations (Autonami) from the form answers. Map the email and any other answers the step accepts, using a test run to see what it offers.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Gravity Forms PluginPlugin
  • MailRefine AccountAccount
  • FunnelKit Automations ( Autonami ) PluginPlugin

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Put a Filter between MailRefine and Autonami that continues only when the result equals the value MailRefine returns for a valid address. Check a test run for the exact value first.
  • Submit one test entry with a real address and one with a made-up address after import, so you can see both MailRefine responses before you set the Filter.
  • If people may submit the form more than once, add Autonami's Get Contact by Email before the create step, then a Filter that continues only when no contact is found. Check a test run for what the lookup returns.

Questions about this workflow

Are Gravity Forms entries with invalid emails kept out of FunnelKit?

Not as imported. The workflow verifies the address but creates the contact either way. Add a Filter after the MailRefine step to stop invalid addresses.

Do I need a MailRefine account for the Gravity Forms check?

Yes. The Verify Single Email step runs through your own MailRefine account, which you connect when you set up the workflow.

What happens if the contact already exists in Autonami?

The step is Create New Contact, and the template doesn't look for an existing contact first. Test with an address already in FunnelKit and check Task History for the response.

Does FunnelKit Automations need to be on the same site?

Yes. Autonami is a WordPress plugin, so it must be active on the site where FlowMattic and Gravity Forms run.
