The When a task is created in Workast, create a corresponding task in ClickUp workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Workast, ClickUp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Teams often capture quick to-dos in Workast and manage projects in ClickUp. That split means some tasks only exist in one place. This workflow copies each new Workast task into ClickUp, so the project view there stays complete.

The Workast trigger, Task Created, fires when a task is created. FlowMattic takes the task's data, such as its title and description, and hands it to ClickUp. The Create Task step adds a new task in the ClickUp list you pick, filled with the Workast values you map.

The copy is one-way and happens once. When the Workast task is later edited or completed, its ClickUp twin stays as it was. Every Workast task in the connected account is copied, as the template has no Filter.

Quick requests that become project work

A teammate jots a client request down as a Workast task, and the delivery team picks it up in their ClickUp list without opening Workast.

Agency account managers and producers

Account managers log client asks in Workast. Producers plan the work in ClickUp, where each ask arrives as a task.

Moving a team from Workast to ClickUp

During a gradual switch, people who still use Workast keep working there while every new task also lands in ClickUp.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Workast Task Created

Fires when a task is created in Workast. The task's data is passed on so the ClickUp step can copy it.

  2. Step 2Action
    ClickUp Create Task

Creates a matching task in the ClickUp list you choose. Map the Workast task's title and description into it, and connect your ClickUp account on import.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Workast AccountAccount
  • ClickUp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Filter after the trigger if only some Workast tasks belong in ClickUp, for example tasks from one Workast space, using a value you've seen in a test run.
  • Put a short note such as "From Workast" in the ClickUp description, so the team knows where the task started.
  • Don't build a reverse workflow from ClickUp's Task Created back to Workast alongside this one. Each copy would start the other workflow, and tasks would keep multiplying.

Questions about this workflow

Do Workast task updates reach ClickUp?

No. Workast's Task Created event is the only thing this workflow listens for. Edits and completions in Workast don't change the ClickUp task.

Are tasks that already exist in Workast copied over?

No. Tasks already sitting in Workast stay put; copying begins with the first task created once the workflow is on.

Can assignees in Workast carry over to ClickUp?

Workast and ClickUp keep separate user lists. Check a test run to see what Workast sends, and open the Create Task step to see whether it accepts an assignee you can map or set.
