What this workflow does

A welcome pack is a good first touch for new subscribers, clients or members, and it reads better when it carries the person's own name. Making one by hand for each contact doesn't scale. This workflow builds the PDF and sends it as soon as the contact exists.

The FluentCRM trigger is New Contact Created, which FlowMattic describes as firing when a new contact is created in FluentCRM. PDF Builder then renders your welcome pack from a saved template with the contact's details mapped in, and saves it to the Media Library as welcome- plus their first name. The Email step sends the contact a welcome message, with their first name in the subject and a link to the pack.

The PDF step ships with template 12 from the author's site, so choose your own template after import. The email comes from FlowMattic's Email module rather than a FluentCRM campaign, using WordPress mail or your SMTP account.

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

Add a Filter after the trigger on the contact's status, continuing only when it equals subscribed, if pending or unsubscribed contacts shouldn't get the pack.
Before a bulk import into FluentCRM, test with a small file to see whether each imported contact starts a run, so a large import doesn't send hundreds of packs at once.
Attach the PDF instead of linking it. FlowMattic's Email step can attach files stored on your site, and the pack is already in the Media Library.

Which FluentCRM contacts get a welcome pack?

Every contact the New Contact Created trigger fires for. There is no Filter, so add one on status, list or tag if only some new contacts should receive it.

Does the email go out as a FluentCRM campaign?

No. It is sent by FlowMattic's Email step, through WordPress mail or your SMTP details. It won't appear in FluentCRM's email reports.

What if a FluentCRM contact has no first name?

The PDF file name and email subject will be missing the name. Make first name required where contacts are collected, or put a Text Formatter by FlowMattic Default Value step before the PDF step.
