Connect BPC and Slack

BPC processes your checkout sessions, two-step payments and refunds. FlowMattic sends the events a person should look at to Slack: a payment that failed, a session that expired before the customer paid, money held and waiting to be captured, a refund that went through. Finance and sales teams see the payment trail in team chat.

Do this in Slack14 actions

1. TriggerPayment Failed
2. ActionSend Channel Message

When BPC fires Payment Failed, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

BPC and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Post failed BPC payments to the payments channel

A failed payment is a customer who wanted to buy. The post shows the amount and the customer, so someone can check the order and offer another way to pay.

Warn the developer on call when payments keep failing

A Counter adds up failures and a Filter passes once the count crosses a number you choose. A cluster of failures is often a checkout problem rather than a declined card.

Follow up on checkout sessions that expired unpaid

Session Expired fires when nobody tried to pay. Sales gets the customer details in a channel and can ask whether something stopped them at checkout.

Remind finance to capture held funds

With two-step payments the money is only held until it is captured. A Slack reminder for finance makes sure each held amount is captured or released on time.

Log refunds in a private finance channel

Each refund posts with the amount and the payment it belongs to. Finance has a running record to check against the books at month end.

Share successful payments with formatted amounts

Number Formatter writes the amount in your currency format, so the sales channel reads each successful payment as a clear figure rather than a raw number.

Set up: failed payments to Slack

At the end, every failed BPC payment is posted to your payments channel with the amount, customer and error.

  1. Connect Slack

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add a Slack connection with an account in the payments channel.

  2. Start with Payment Failed

Create a workflow with the BPC Payment Failed trigger and follow its instructions to send BPC events to the workflow.

  3. Capture a test failure

Run a test payment that fails, for example with a test card meant to decline, so FlowMattic captures the payment fields.

  4. Post the failure

Add Send Channel Message, choose the channel and write the text from the amount, currency, customer email and failure reason. Test it and switch on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Payment Funded and Payment Amount Capturable Updated belong to two-step payments. If you charge in one step, Payment Succeeded is the event to use.
  • Map only payment IDs, amounts and customer names into Slack. Card and bank details should stay in BPC.
  • Payment Created fires before the outcome is known. Use Payment Succeeded or Payment Failed when the message should say what happened.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

BPC and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Lost sales get a second chance

Failed payments and expired sessions reach people who can contact the customer while they still want to buy.

Checkout problems show up early

Counting failures in the workflow turns a quiet stream of errors into one clear warning for the developer on call.

Payment data stays on your server

FlowMattic runs on your own WordPress site with unlimited runs, so every payment event can run a workflow without extra fees.

Common questions

How do I get a Slack alert when a BPC payment fails?

Create a FlowMattic workflow with the BPC Payment Failed trigger, capture a test failure and add Send Channel Message. Map the amount, customer and failure reason into the text and switch the workflow on.

What is the difference between Payment Funded and Payment Succeeded?

Payment Funded fires when held money from a two-step payment is captured. Payment Succeeded fires when a payment is successful. Pick the one that matches how your checkout charges customers.

Can I see canceled payments too?

Yes. Payment Canceled is its own trigger. Post it to the same payments channel, or to a private one if finance wants a separate record of cancellations.

Can I count failures over a day instead of posting each one?

Yes. Use a Counter after Payment Failed and a Filter that only continues past a set number. The channel then hears about a pattern, not every single decline.
