Connect ClickUp and Slack

Project managers plan in ClickUp, but most of the team reads Slack. FlowMattic moves the ClickUp changes that matter into Slack: a status that moved, a task handed to someone new, a deadline that shifted. You choose which events and which channels, and the workflow runs from your WordPress site.

Do this in Slack14 actions

1. TriggerTask Status Updated
2. ActionSend Channel Message

When ClickUp fires Task Status Updated, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

ClickUp and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Post task status changes to the project channel

When a task moves to In Review or Done, the channel hears about it with the task name and link, so nobody asks for status in a stand-up.

Send new assignees a direct message

The person picking up a task gets a Slack DM with what it is and when it is due, matched to their Slack account by email.

Set a Slack reminder when a due date changes

Moving a deadline in ClickUp adds a Slack reminder for the new date, so the change does not get lost in a notification feed.

Escalate urgent tasks to a private leads channel

A Filter keeps only tasks raised to urgent priority. Team leads see them in a private channel without the noise of every other update.

Agencies that give every client a space get a matching channel with its topic set to the space name, ready for the people working on it.

Share key result progress with leadership

Each time a key result is updated in ClickUp Goals, the new value is posted to a leadership channel, which keeps quarterly goals visible between reviews.

Set up: status changes posted to Slack

After these steps, each status change on tasks in your chosen ClickUp location is posted to one Slack channel.

  1. Connect ClickUp

Add a ClickUp connection in FlowMattic under Connects with an account that can see the workspace.

  2. Connect Slack

Add a Slack connection for the workspace your team uses.

  3. Choose Task Status Updated

Create a workflow with this ClickUp trigger, pick the workspace and location, then change a test task's status to capture data.

  4. Post the update

Add Send Channel Message, choose the channel, include the task name, new status and link, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Slack has no triggers in FlowMattic, so a Slack message cannot create a ClickUp task by itself. Start from Webhook or another app's trigger and use Create Task.
  • Find User by Email only matches when the ClickUp user's email is the same as their Slack profile email.
  • Busy lists produce many updates. Use a Filter on status or list so only the changes the channel needs are posted.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Task names and client details travel from ClickUp to Slack through your own WordPress server.

Every update counts the same

Runs are unlimited, so posting each status change across many lists does not add to your bill.

Pick the events, not a firehose

With 28 ClickUp triggers and Filter steps, the channel gets only the changes your team asked for.

Common questions

Can I send ClickUp updates as Slack DMs instead of channel posts?

Yes. Use Find User by Email with the assignee's email, then Send Direct Message. Each person gets only the tasks that concern them.

Can I limit alerts to one list or folder?

Choose the location when you set up the trigger, or add a Filter that checks the list or folder name in the captured data.

Can a Slack message open a ClickUp task?

Not directly, because Slack has no triggers in FlowMattic. Catch the request with the Webhook trigger or a form trigger and run Create Task, then post a confirmation to Slack.

Are comments supported?

Yes. Task Comment Posted and Task Comment Updated can each send the comment text and task link to a channel, which helps when clients comment in ClickUp.

Can goals and key results post to Slack?

Yes. Goal Created, Goal Updated and the Key Result triggers can each start a workflow that posts the change to a channel you pick.
