Connect Google Drive and ClickUp

Project files end up scattered when tasks live in ClickUp and documents live in Google Drive. FlowMattic links the two from your WordPress site: new tasks and lists get their own Drive folders, the right people get access when assignments change, and files added to a Drive folder become ClickUp tasks. It suits agencies and small teams that run client work from both.

Google Drive and ClickUp workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Create a Drive folder for each new ClickUp task

Every task gets a folder named after it, and the folder link goes back on the task as a comment, so nobody asks where the files for a job should go.

Build a client folder tree when a new list is created

Agencies that open a ClickUp list per client get a main Drive folder with Briefs, Assets and Deliverables sub folders, set up the same way every time.

Share the task folder with whoever is assigned

When an assignee is added, FlowMattic finds the task's folder by name and shares it with that person's email, so freelancers get access without a separate request.

Export the approved document to PDF when a task is done

A Filter waits for the Approved status, then the working document is found, exported to PDF and linked in a task comment, ready to send to the client.

Mark a folder as archived when its task is deleted

Deleting a task should not delete the client's files. The matching folder is renamed with an Archived prefix, so it stays findable and clearly out of use.

Draft a content brief with AI and save it to Drive

Tasks tagged for content get an AI Agent brief with an outline and key questions, saved as a Drive file and linked on the task before the writer starts.

Open a review task for each file added to a Drive folder

Drop a draft, contract or brief into a review folder, and New File in Folder creates a ClickUp task with the file name and link, so nothing sits unread in a shared folder.

New File in FolderCreate Task

Set up: a Drive folder for each new task

When you finish, every new ClickUp task has its own Google Drive folder, linked in a comment on the task.

  1. Connect both accounts

Add ClickUp and Google Drive under Connects in FlowMattic, using a Drive account that owns or can edit the parent folder.

  2. Choose Task Created

Start a workflow with the ClickUp Task Created trigger, pick the workspace and create a test task so FlowMattic captures its data.

  3. Add Create a Folder

Add a Google Drive step with Create a Folder, choose the parent folder and name the new one with the task name and task ID.

  4. Comment the link back

Add Post Task Comment, map the task ID and put the new folder's link in the comment text, then test and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Drive's New File runs for files added anywhere in the connected Drive. Use New File in Folder when only one folder should create ClickUp tasks.
  • Find Folder and Find File search by name. Put the ClickUp task ID in each folder name so a search never matches two folders.
  • Task Updated fires on many kinds of change. Use the narrower triggers, such as Task Status Updated or Task Assignee Updated, when only one change matters.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Google Drive and ClickUp connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Files and tasks stay linked

Every folder is created from a task and points back to it, so the link between work and documents does not depend on someone remembering.

Runs on your WordPress site

FlowMattic runs each workflow on your own server with unlimited runs, so a month with hundreds of new tasks costs the same as a slow one.

Access follows the assignment

Sharing happens when someone is assigned, which means contractors see a client's files when they need them, not before.

Common questions

Can a new file in Google Drive create a ClickUp task?

Yes. Start with New File in Folder, choose the folder to watch and add Create Task, with the file name as the task name and the file link in the description.

Can each task folder have the same sub folders?

Yes. After Create a Folder, add one Create a Sub Folder step per sub folder you want, such as Drafts and Final, using the new folder's ID as the parent.

How does FlowMattic know which folder belongs to which task?

By name. Include the task ID when the folder is created, then search for that ID with Find Folder in later workflows such as sharing or archiving.

Can I share files with anyone who has the link?

Yes. Share File with Anyone and Share Folder with Anyone create a public link, which you can post back on the ClickUp task with Post Task Comment.
