Connect Crowdin and Google Sheets

Crowdin knows when new strings arrive, when a language is fully translated or reviewed and when a task changes status. FlowMattic writes those events to Google Sheets, so a localisation manager can plan releases from a language-by-language progress sheet and share it with product and marketing, who rarely open Crowdin themselves.

When Crowdin fires Source String Added, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Crowdin and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every new Crowdin source string in a sheet

Each source string added to the project becomes a row with its key, text, file and date, so writers and reviewers can see how much new copy is waiting for translation.

Date-stamp each language when it is fully translated

A progress sheet has one row per target language. Project Fully Translated finds the language's row and writes the date, so the release plan shows which locales are ready.

Record when review is finished for a language

Translation done is not the same as approved. Project Fully Reviewed fills a separate reviewed column, so you only ship languages that passed proofreading.

Keep a task sheet in step with Crowdin task statuses

Task Added creates the row, and Task Status Changed finds it and writes the new status, giving vendors and in-house translators one shared view of open work.

Tell developers a file is ready to pull

When a file is fully translated into a language, log it and email the developers, so they pull that file into the build instead of checking Crowdin by hand.

Collect rejected translations for translator feedback

Each time approval is removed from a translation, the string, language and user details in the event are logged, which gives the reviewer material for a feedback session.

Set up: new source strings in a sheet

At the end, each source string added to your Crowdin project is written to a row in Google Sheets.

  1. Prepare the string log

Create a sheet with Date, String ID, Key, Text, File and Project columns.

  2. Trigger on Source String Added

Create a workflow with Crowdin and Source String Added, and add the webhook the trigger describes to your Crowdin project.

  3. Add a test string

Upload a source file change or add a string in the project so FlowMattic captures the event.

  4. Write the row

Connect Google Sheets, add Add New Row, map the string fields to the columns, test and switch on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • The file-level triggers only apply to file-based Crowdin projects. In string-based projects, use the project-level events instead.
  • Uploading a large source file can add many strings at once, and each one starts a run. Use project or file events if you only need progress, not every string.
  • The sheet is a report. Changing a status there does not update the task or translation in Crowdin.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Crowdin and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Progress others can read

Product managers and marketers see which languages are ready in a sheet they already use, without Crowdin accounts.

Project data stays on your server

Strings and task details go from Crowdin through your own WordPress site to Google, with no other automation company in between.

Big uploads cost the same

Runs are unlimited, so a source upload that adds thousands of strings costs nothing extra to log.

Common questions

Can I see which languages are ready to release?

Yes. Keep one row per language and use Project Fully Translated and Project Fully Reviewed, with Lookup Row Data and Update Row, to date-stamp each stage.

Can I track Crowdin tasks in Google Sheets?

Yes. Task Added adds each task as a row and Task Status Changed finds that row by task ID and updates its status.

Will every translated string create a row?

Only if you use Suggested Translation Added. For most teams the file and project events are enough, and they create far fewer rows.

Does this work with string-based projects?

The project, task and string triggers do. The two file triggers are specific to file-based projects, as their names say.
