Connect Todoist and Notion

Many people plan in Notion and get things done in Todoist. FlowMattic moves work between them in both directions: Todoist tasks become Notion database items, completions tick the item off, and new Notion entries or meeting notes become tasks with due dates. Everything runs from your WordPress site.

When Todoist fires New Task, FlowMattic runs Create Database Item in Notion with the data from that event.

Todoist and Notion workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Save new Todoist tasks in a Notion database

Each task you add in Todoist becomes a database item with its title, project, due date and priority, so your Notion project pages show the real to-do list.

Tick off the Notion item when the task is completed

Completing a task in Todoist finds the matching database item by its task ID property and sets the status to done, so Notion progress views stay honest.

Start a Notion page for every new Todoist project

A new project in Todoist creates a page under your projects page in Notion, ready for the brief, links and notes that do not fit in a task list.

Turn new content calendar entries into Todoist tasks

When an article or video is added to a Notion content calendar, the writer gets a Todoist task with the publish date as the due date.

Create a review task when a Notion item needs review

A Filter watches the status property. When an item moves to needs review, the reviewer gets a Todoist task linking to the Notion page.

Split meeting notes into one task per action item

An AI Agent reads a new meeting notes entry and lists the action items, and Iterator creates a Todoist task for each one with the owner in the title.

Move the Todoist due date when the Notion date changes

When a deadline is pushed in Notion, the task ID stored on the item is used to update the Todoist task, so your daily list shows the new date.

Set up: Todoist tasks into Notion

At the end, every new Todoist task is added as an item in your Notion tasks database.

  1. Prepare the database

In Notion, create a tasks database with properties such as Name, Project, Due, Priority and Todoist ID.

  2. Connect both apps

Under Connects, add Todoist and Notion. Give the Notion connection access to the tasks database when Notion asks which pages to share.

  3. Start with New Task

Create a workflow with the Todoist New Task trigger and add a test task so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  4. Create Database Item

Add Notion Create Database Item, choose the database, map each task field to a property, test and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • A two-way setup can loop: a Notion item creates a task that creates another Notion item. Store the Todoist ID on the item and Filter out items that already have one.
  • Notion only lets the connection see pages and databases you share with it. If a database is missing from the list, share it with the connection in Notion.
  • Add a Task Comment and Add a Project Comment only work for Todoist premium users, so use the task description on free accounts.
  • Todoist priorities and Notion select options are separate values. Use a Lookup Table to turn Todoist priority numbers into your Notion labels.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Todoist and Notion connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Plan in one, do in the other

Projects and calendars stay in Notion while the daily list stays in Todoist, and neither drifts out of date.

Meeting notes become real tasks

Action items written in a Notion page reach Todoist without anyone copying them, so they turn up on the right day.

No limit on synced tasks

FlowMattic runs on your own WordPress site with unlimited runs, so syncing every task and update costs the same as syncing a few.

Common questions

How do I sync Todoist tasks to Notion?

Connect both apps under Connects, start a workflow with the Todoist New Task trigger and add Notion Create Database Item mapped to your tasks database. Add a second workflow with Task Completed to mark items done.

Can Notion create tasks in Todoist?

Yes. Start a workflow with Notion New Database Item or Updated Database Item and add Todoist Create Task. Map the item title and date property into the task content and due date.

How do I stop a two-way sync from duplicating items?

Save the Todoist task ID in a Notion property. In the Notion to Todoist workflow, add a Filter that stops items where that property is already filled, so items made by the other workflow are skipped.

Can completed tasks update Notion instead of creating new items?

Yes. Use Task Completed, then Find Database Item to search the Todoist ID property, and Update Database Item to set the status or checkbox.

Do I need Todoist premium?

Not for the tasks, projects and sections steps on this page. Only the comment actions, Add a Task Comment and Add a Project Comment, need a premium Todoist account.
