Connect LeanIX and Slack

LeanIX maps your applications and technologies as fact sheets, and changes there affect people who never open it. FlowMattic posts archived and new fact sheets to the architecture channel, warns IT when an integration run is aborted, tells people when they are subscribed to a fact sheet and shares survey responses. For enterprise architects who want the landscape discussed in Slack.

Do this in Slack14 actions

1. TriggerFact Sheet Archived
2. ActionSend Channel Message

When LeanIX fires Fact Sheet Archived, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

LeanIX and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Notify the architecture channel when a fact sheet is archived

An archived application or technology can affect other teams. The fact sheet name and type post to the channel, so owners of related systems can raise concerns.

Warn IT operations when an integration run is aborted

An aborted run means the inventory stops updating from that source. Posting it to a private ops channel gets someone to look at the connector before data goes stale.

Share new fact sheets with the architecture team

Each new application, interface or IT component posts with its type, so architects can check naming and ownership while the record is new.

Tell people when they are subscribed to a fact sheet

When someone becomes responsible for a fact sheet, Find User by Email finds them in Slack and a DM explains what they now own and where to find it.

Flag applications tagged for retirement

A Filter keeps tags such as end of life or sunset, and the post tells the owning business unit that a system they rely on is being phased out.

Post survey responses as they come in

Poll Result Created fires for each survey answer, so the architect running an application survey can see responses arrive and chase owners who have not replied.

Set up: archived fact sheet alerts

At the end, every fact sheet archived in LeanIX posts its name and type to your architecture channel.

  1. Connect Slack

Add your Slack workspace under Connects in FlowMattic.

  2. Start with Fact Sheet Archived

Create a workflow with LeanIX and Fact Sheet Archived, and follow the trigger's instructions to add the workflow as a webhook subscription in LeanIX.

  3. Archive a test fact sheet

Archive a test fact sheet in a sandbox workspace so FlowMattic captures the event fields.

  4. Post to the channel

Add Slack Send Channel Message, choose the architecture channel, map the name, type and link, test the step and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Fact Sheet Updated also fires when relations change, so it can be busy. Prefer Fact Sheet Field Update with a Filter on the field you care about.
  • LeanIX sends nested event data, so the mapping above is an example. Capture a real event and add JSON Parser if the field you need is inside an object.
  • Find User by Email works when people use the same email in LeanIX and Slack. Keep a channel fallback for contractors with other addresses.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

LeanIX and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Landscape changes reach owners

Business and IT owners hear about archives, retirements and new systems in Slack, without logging in to LeanIX.

Broken syncs are noticed

Aborted integration runs reach the people who fix them, so the inventory stays trustworthy.

Runs on your own server

FlowMattic runs on your WordPress site with unlimited runs, so a large clean-up of fact sheets costs nothing extra.

Common questions

How do I send LeanIX events to Slack?

Create a FlowMattic workflow with a LeanIX trigger such as Fact Sheet Archived, add the workflow as a webhook subscription in LeanIX as the trigger's instructions describe, then add Slack Send Channel Message.

Can only certain fact sheet types be posted?

Yes. Add a Filter on the fact sheet type so only applications, or only IT components, reach the channel. A Router can send each type to its own channel.

Can integration problems go to a separate channel?

Yes. Integration Run Aborted and Integration Run Finished are their own triggers. Post them to a private ops channel and keep the architecture channel for fact sheet news.

Will every small edit be posted?

Only if you build on Fact Sheet Updated. For quieter alerts, use Fact Sheet Field Update with a Filter on the one field you watch, such as lifecycle.

Can new subscribers be told what they own?

Yes. Start with Subscription Created, find the person with Find User by Email, and send a direct message with the fact sheet name and a link back to LeanIX.
