Connect Fluent Forms and ActiveCampaign

Fluent Forms collects the sign-ups, demo requests and quote forms on your WordPress site; ActiveCampaign runs the email and the sales pipeline. FlowMattic passes each entry across as a contact, adds it to the right list or automation, opens deals for quote requests and can even change what the visitor sees after submitting, based on what ActiveCampaign already knows.

Fluent Forms and ActiveCampaign workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Handle demo requests and downloads differently by source

A Router reads the form or a hidden source field. Demo requests and content downloads each get their own contact fields and follow-up in ActiveCampaign.

Open a deal for every quote request

Sales gets a deal in the pipeline with the requested budget and scope saved as a deal note, instead of a quote email sitting in an inbox.

Find Contact checks the email. Known contacts see a welcome back message after submitting, new visitors see the standard one.

Tag buyers from a Fluent Forms payment form

Payment entries tag the contact as a customer, so ActiveCampaign stops sending them sales emails for the product they just bought.

Send qualified leads straight to your booking page

Leads who match your criteria, such as company size, are redirected to a booking link after submitting, while everyone else lands on the normal thank-you page.

Set up: leads routed by source

At the end, every Fluent Forms entry becomes an ActiveCampaign contact, with demo requests and downloads handled on separate paths.

  1. Add a source field

In Fluent Forms, add a hidden field such as source with values like demo or download, or use separate forms.

  2. Connect ActiveCampaign

Under Connects, add ActiveCampaign with your account URL and API key. Fluent Forms runs on this site and needs no connection.

  3. Trigger on New Form Submission

Create a workflow with Fluent Forms and New Form Submission, choose the form and send a test entry.

  4. Route and save the contact

Add a Router with one path per source, and Create or Update Contact on each path with its own tags or fields. Test both paths and switch on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Set Custom Response and Redirect to Custom URL act on the entry that started the workflow, so they only belong in workflows that begin with a Fluent Forms trigger.
  • New Payment Submission (Pro) needs Fluent Forms Pro with a payment field on the form.
  • ActiveCampaign triggers such as Contact Unsubscribed can start their own workflows, but Fluent Forms has no actions that change stored entries.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Fluent Forms and ActiveCampaign connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

The form reacts to the CRM

Because the lookup happens during the submission, the thank-you message or redirect can depend on whether ActiveCampaign already knows the visitor.

Entries stay on your server

Form data goes from Fluent Forms to ActiveCampaign through your own WordPress site, with unlimited runs on every plan.

Lists, tags, deals and automations

One entry can update the contact, add a tag, open a deal and start an automation in a single workflow.

Common questions

How do I send Fluent Forms entries to ActiveCampaign?

Start a workflow with the Fluent Forms New Form Submission trigger and add ActiveCampaign Create or Update Contact. Map email and name fields, then add list, tag or automation steps after it.

Will a repeat sign-up create a duplicate contact?

No. Create or Update Contact matches on email, so a returning person's contact is updated rather than added again.

Can I start an ActiveCampaign automation from a form?

Yes. After the contact is saved, add Add Existing Contact to Automation and pick the automation. Use Remove Contact From Automation in another workflow to stop it.

Can the thank-you message depend on the visitor?

Yes. Look the email up with Find Contact, then use Branch and Set Custom Response so known contacts and new visitors see different text.

Do I need ActiveCampaign's own WordPress plugin?

No. FlowMattic talks to ActiveCampaign through the connection you add under Connects, so the form and the workflow both stay inside your WordPress site.
