Connect Fluent Forms and FluentCRM

Fluent Forms and FluentCRM are both WordPress plugins, so the form that collects a lead and the CRM that follows up live on the same site. FlowMattic gives you finer control over the hand-off: tag by the answer given, start a sequence, record a purchase, keep the message as a note, or show returning contacts a different thank-you message.

Fluent Forms and FluentCRM workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Create the contact and tag it by form

Each entry becomes a FluentCRM contact, and a tag names the form it came from, so segments and reports show which form brought each person in.

Start an email sequence from a lead magnet form

Someone asks for a guide or a course, and they go straight into the matching FluentCRM sequence, which sends the download and the follow-up emails.

Record payment form sales on the contact

Paid workshops and donations taken by Fluent Forms are added as purchases on the FluentCRM contact, so lifetime value and buyer segments include them.

Show existing contacts a different thank-you message

Look the email up first. A Router shows known contacts a welcome-back message and new visitors the standard confirmation, set as the form's response.

Add contacts to lists by the interest they choose

A dropdown asks what the visitor cares about. A Router adds them to the matching FluentCRM list, so each newsletter goes only to people who asked for it.

Keep each enquiry as a note on the contact

The message the visitor typed is saved as a FluentCRM note, so whoever opens the contact later can read every past question in one place.

Set up: contact created and tagged

Once done, every entry of your form creates or updates a FluentCRM contact and adds the tag you choose.

  1. Create the tag

In FluentCRM, add a tag named after the form, for example Webinar signup.

  2. Trigger on the form

In FlowMattic, create a workflow with Fluent Forms New Form Submission, pick the form and send a test entry. No connections are needed, as both plugins are on your site.

  3. Create or update the contact

Add FluentCRM Create or Update Contact and map the email, first name, last name and phone fields.

  4. Add the tag

Add Add Tags to Contact, choose your tag, test both steps and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Create or Update Contact matches on email, so a person who fills in two forms keeps one contact with both tags.
  • New Payment Submission (Pro) needs Fluent Forms Pro with payments set up on the form.
  • If you also send entries to FluentCRM through Fluent Forms' own settings, turn that off for the form, or each entry is handled twice.
  • Set Custom Response only changes the message shown to the visitor who just submitted, so it belongs in that form's workflow.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Fluent Forms and FluentCRM connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Nothing leaves your WordPress site

The form, the CRM and FlowMattic all run on the same server, so lead data never passes through an outside service.

More than a field mapping

Routers, lookups, notes, purchases and sequences give each entry the follow-up that fits it, not one fixed action.

Big lists, no per-run fees

Runs are unlimited, so a popular form adding thousands of contacts costs the same as a small one.

Common questions

Fluent Forms already connects to FluentCRM. Why use FlowMattic?

The built-in feed covers the basics. FlowMattic adds steps around it: you can check the contact first, branch on answers, add notes and purchases, start sequences and change the response the visitor sees, all in one workflow.

Do I need any API keys?

No. Both plugins run on your WordPress site, so FlowMattic reads the form entry and writes to FluentCRM directly.

Can I respect a marketing consent checkbox?

Yes. Add a Filter or Router on the checkbox. Contacts who agreed can be added to your list, and others can be created without one.

Can I send a welcome email from FluentCRM?

Yes. Add Send Email to Contact or Send Email by Template after the contact is created, or let a sequence send it.

Can one workflow handle several forms?

The clearest setup is one workflow per form, each with its own tag, list or sequence. That also keeps testing simple, because each test entry runs only one workflow.
