Connect Gainsight and Slack

Gainsight tracks how customers use your product and what they say inside it. FlowMattic posts those signals to Slack: survey and feedback responses, guide and dialog engagements, feature matches and new users. Customer success managers hear about their accounts in a direct message, and product sees feedback in its own channel.

When Gainsight fires Engagement, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

Gainsight and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Post Gainsight engagement responses to the success channel

When a user answers a survey, dialog or slider, the response goes to the customer success channel, so the account's CSM can follow up on a low score or a request.

Send in-app feedback to the product team

Feedback Event posts each piece of product feedback to the product channel with the account and user, so roadmap discussions start from what customers actually wrote.

Tell the CSM when an account adds a new user

A Lookup Table maps each account to its CSM's email, and Slack messages that CSM when a new user appears, a sign the customer is rolling the product out further.

Flag detractor scores in a private channel

A Filter passes engagement responses with a low NPS or rating, and they post to a private escalation channel for success leads, away from the general feed.

Announce first use of a key feature

Feature Match tells you a user reached a feature you track, such as an integration or report. Posting it lets the CSM congratulate the customer or offer training.

Sort feedback by theme before it is posted

An AI Agent reads each feedback text and labels it as bug, request or praise, and a Router sends it to the matching channel for engineering, product or marketing.

Set up: engagement responses to success

At the end, each Gainsight engagement response is posted to your customer success channel with the account, user and answer.

  1. Connect Slack

Add Slack under Connects in FlowMattic with an account that is in the customer success channel.

  2. Start with Engagement

Create a workflow, choose Gainsight and the Engagement trigger, and follow the instructions shown to send Gainsight events to the workflow.

  3. Capture a test response

Answer a test engagement in your product so FlowMattic records the fields Gainsight sends.

  4. Post the response

Add Send Channel Message, choose the channel and map the account, user and response. Test it and switch it on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • The Engagement trigger covers dialogs, sliders, guides and surveys. Use a Filter or Router on the engagement name if you only want survey answers in Slack.
  • The fields depend on your Gainsight setup and engagement type, so the mapping above is an example. Check the captured test event before mapping.
  • Find User by Email only finds people in your Slack workspace, so use it for CSMs and account owners, not for your customers' users.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Gainsight and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Customer signals reach the account owner

Low scores, new users and feature adoption arrive in Slack for the CSM who owns the account, not only in a Gainsight report.

Product hears the customer's own words

Feedback posts to the product channel as written, so roadmap talks start from real requests.

One flat cost for every event

FlowMattic runs on your WordPress site with unlimited runs, so a product with many active users does not raise automation costs.

Common questions

How do I send Gainsight survey responses to Slack?

Connect Slack in FlowMattic, start a workflow with the Gainsight Engagement trigger and add Send Channel Message. Map the account, user and response, capture a test answer and switch the workflow on.

Can each CSM get alerts only for their accounts?

Yes. Use a Lookup Table that maps account names to CSM emails, then Find User by Email and Send Direct Message, so each CSM gets their own accounts' events.

Can feedback and engagement go to different channels?

Yes. Feedback Event and Engagement are separate triggers, so build one workflow for each and point them at the product and success channels.

What is a Feature Match event?

It is a Gainsight event for when a user's activity matches a feature you track. Use it to post adoption milestones to Slack or to tell the CSM a customer has started using something new.
