Connect Givebutter and Google Sheets

Givebutter runs fundraising campaigns, event ticketing and donor contacts for nonprofits. Google Sheets is often where volunteers check people in at the door and where the board reads totals. FlowMattic writes Givebutter transactions, tickets, campaigns and contacts into a sheet from your own WordPress site, so each team works from a list that fills itself.

1. TriggerTransaction Succeeded

When Givebutter fires Transaction Succeeded, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

Givebutter and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every succeeded Givebutter transaction

Each successful payment adds a row with the donor, amount, campaign and date, giving the finance volunteer a running list to reconcile against payouts.

Build a door check-in list from event tickets

Each ticket adds the attendee and ticket type to a Check-in tab. Volunteers at the door tick a column on a phone instead of searching an email inbox.

Keep a register of campaigns and their goals

Each new campaign is logged with its title, goal and URL, and Campaign Updated overwrites the row when the goal or dates change.

Add new donors to a list without duplicates

Contact Created checks the email first. A Router adds a row for someone new and skips people already on the list, so mail merges reach each donor once.

Split gifts into one tab per campaign

A Router reads the campaign of each transaction, so the spring appeal, the walkathon and the auction each have a tab with their own total.

Log the gift and send a personal thank-you

After the row is written, Email (SMTP) sends a short thank-you from your executive director's address, with the amount and campaign from the transaction.

Set up: transactions in a sheet

At the end, every succeeded Givebutter transaction is written as a row in your gifts sheet.

  1. Make the gifts tab

Add headers such as Transaction ID, Date, Donor, Email, Amount, Campaign and Method.

  2. Connect Givebutter and Google

Under Connects, add your Givebutter account and a Google account that can edit the gifts sheet.

  3. Trigger on Transaction Succeeded

Start a workflow on the Givebutter Transaction Succeeded trigger and make a small test donation so the fields are captured.

  4. Write the gift

Add Google Sheets Add New Row, map the transaction fields, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Check a captured ticket purchase: if it also arrives as Transaction Succeeded, use a Router or Filter on the transaction details to keep tickets off the gifts tab.
  • Contact Created can fire for a contact made by a transaction, so a new donor may start both the contact and the transaction workflow.
  • The mapping is an example. Captured test data shows the exact fields Givebutter sends for your campaigns.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Givebutter and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Lists volunteers can use

Check-in sheets and donor lists can be shared with volunteers without giving them access to your Givebutter dashboard.

Gala night costs the same

Runs are unlimited, so an event that brings in hundreds of tickets and gifts in one evening needs no plan upgrade.

Donor records stay with you

Gift and contact details pass through your own WordPress site into your sheet, not another company's automation account.

Common questions

Can I export Givebutter donations to Google Sheets as they come in?

Yes. A workflow on Transaction Succeeded adds each donation as a row with the donor, amount and campaign. There is no export to run; the sheet fills as gifts arrive.

Can I make a check-in list for a Givebutter event?

Yes. Start a workflow on Ticket Created and add each ticket to a Check-in tab with the attendee and ticket type. Add a Checked in column for volunteers.

How do I keep ticket sales separate from donations?

Add a Router after Transaction Succeeded with one path for ticket purchases and one for donations, each writing to its own tab.

Can donors get a thank-you email from us, not the platform?

Yes. Add an Email (SMTP) step after the row. It sends from your own mail server with the donor's name and gift amount.

Will campaign goal changes show in the sheet?

Yes, if you add a workflow on Campaign Updated that looks up the campaign row by ID and updates it.
