Connect Givebutter and Slack

Givebutter runs your nonprofit's campaigns, event ticketing and donor contacts. FlowMattic posts the activity your staff care about to Slack: a new campaign going live, a gift that went through, a ticket sold for the gala, a new donor added. Development and events teams follow it all from the channels they already use.

Givebutter and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Announce each new Givebutter campaign to the team

When someone creates a campaign, the team channel hears about it, so board members, volunteers and staff can share the link and help from the first day.

Post every successful gift to the development channel

Transaction Succeeded fires once the payment goes through, so the channel shows money actually received, with the donor, amount and campaign.

Track ticket sales for an event in its own channel

Each ticket sold posts to the event's channel, so the events lead can follow attendance and plan seating and catering without exporting the attendee list.

Ask the executive director to call major donors

A Filter passes gifts above your major-gift level, and the director gets a direct message with the donor's details and a reminder to call within the week.

Welcome new donor contacts in a private channel

Contact Created posts each new supporter to a private stewardship channel, so the person who writes thank-you notes has a list of new names each day.

Show the campaign goal in the channel topic

When a campaign is updated, Set Channel Topic writes its title and goal into the channel header, so everyone working on it sees the current target.

Set up: new campaigns to the team

At the end, each new Givebutter campaign is announced in your team channel with its title and link.

  1. Connect Slack

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add Slack with the account that will post campaign news.

  2. Pick Campaign Created

Create a workflow with the Givebutter Campaign Created trigger and follow the steps shown to connect your Givebutter account.

  3. Create a test campaign

Make a draft campaign in Givebutter so FlowMattic captures the campaign fields.

  4. Post the announcement

Add Send Channel Message, choose the team channel and include the campaign title, goal and URL. Test and switch it on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Contact Created also fires for contacts created by a transaction, so a new donor can appear in both the gift alert and the contact alert. Use different channels for the two.
  • The fields in the mapping are typical examples; check the captured test campaign or gift for the names your account sends.
  • Transaction Succeeded is the event for confirmed payments. Use it, not Contact Created, for anything that reports money received.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Givebutter and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Staff and volunteers share early

A new campaign announced in Slack gets shared by the people closest to the cause on day one.

Every gift has someone to thank it

Gift, ticket and contact alerts go to the people who steward donors, so thank-yous are not left to a monthly export.

No cost per donation

FlowMattic runs on your own WordPress site with unlimited runs, so a busy year-end campaign costs nothing extra to automate.

Common questions

How do I post Givebutter donations to Slack?

Connect Slack in FlowMattic, start a workflow with the Givebutter Transaction Succeeded trigger and add Send Channel Message. Map the donor, amount and campaign, run a test gift and switch the workflow on.

Can event tickets post to a different channel than gifts?

Yes. Ticket Created is its own trigger. Build a second workflow with it and point the Slack step at the event channel.

Can I flag large gifts for a personal call?

Yes. Add a Filter with your major-gift amount after Transaction Succeeded, then send a direct message to the person who calls donors and set a Slack reminder for them.

Will new campaigns post automatically?

Yes, once the workflow with the Campaign Created trigger is switched on. Each campaign created in Givebutter is posted to the channel you chose.
