Connect Mailchimp and Google Drive

Mailchimp grows your audience and Google Drive holds the files you promise them: guides, templates, course material. FlowMattic links the two from your WordPress site, so a new subscriber can be given access to a file under their own email, a client signup can get a shared folder, and campaign details and audience backups can be filed in Drive for your records.

Mailchimp and Google Drive workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Share the promised download with each new subscriber

Instead of a public link that gets passed around, each subscriber gets the guide or template shared with their own email address when they join the audience.

Create and share a folder for each new client subscriber

Coaches and agencies who sign clients up through a Mailchimp form get a Drive folder named after the client, shared with them, and the link saved as a member note.

Archive each campaign's details as a text file

Every new or sent campaign is written to a text file in a Drive folder with its subject, audience and send time, building a record of what went out and when.

Rename a member's folder when they change email

If client folders are named by email, an address change in Mailchimp finds the old folder and renames it, so the folder still matches the person.

Keep a record of unsubscribes in a Drive folder

Each unsubscribe writes a small file with the email, date and reason if given, which helps when you need to show when someone opted out.

Save a weekly CSV backup of your audience to Drive

Every Monday, Get All Members pulls the audience, CSV Creator turns it into a file and Upload a File stores it in Drive, so you keep your own dated copy of the list.

Set up: share the download on signup

When you finish, everyone who joins your Mailchimp audience gets your file in Google Drive shared with their email.

  1. Upload the file

Put the guide or template in Google Drive and note its name or ID so the workflow can find it.

  2. Connect both accounts

Add Mailchimp and Google Drive under Connects. Use the Google account that owns the file.

  3. Start with New Subscriber

Create a workflow with the Mailchimp New Subscriber trigger, pick the audience and add yourself as a test subscriber.

  4. Share the file

Add Share File, select the file and map the subscriber's email as the person to share with. Test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Get All Members returns one page of members per call. For a large audience, repeat the step for each page, or export the full list from Mailchimp.
  • Share File gives one email address access. For a file anyone can open, Share File with Anyone returns a public link instead.
  • Mailchimp's New Subscriber runs per audience. Build one workflow per audience, or use a Router, if each list gets a different file.
  • Find Folder searches by name, so name client folders in a way that stays unique, such as name plus email.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Mailchimp and Google Drive connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Downloads stay with subscribers

Files are shared with the person who signed up, so your paid or premium material does not spread through a public link.

Records you own

Campaign and unsubscribe records sit in your own Drive, written by FlowMattic from your WordPress site.

Big launches cost the same

Runs are unlimited, so a signup spike after a launch shares every file without a bigger plan.

Common questions

Can Mailchimp share a Google Drive file with new subscribers?

Yes. Start a FlowMattic workflow with Mailchimp New Subscriber and add Google Drive Share File with the subscriber's email. They get access to that file under their own Google login.

Can I send a different file to each audience?

Yes. Build a workflow for each audience with its own file, or use one workflow with a Router that picks the file by audience.

Can I remove access when someone unsubscribes?

The Google Drive actions here share, move, rename and delete files, but do not remove one person's access. You can move or rename the file, or share a fresh copy with current subscribers.

Can a file in Drive be added to a Mailchimp campaign?

Yes, in steps. New File in Folder starts the workflow, Share File with Anyone returns a public link, and Create Campaign sets up a campaign for the audience. Send yourself a test before adding Send Campaign, so you can check the link appears where you expect.

Can I back up my audience to Drive?

Yes. A Schedule can run Get All Members, build a CSV with CSV Creator and save it with Upload a File, giving you a dated copy of the audience each week. Create File From Text can also log each new subscriber as they join.
