Connect Ortto and Slack

Ortto tags, scores and tracks every person in your audience. FlowMattic posts the changes your team should act on to Slack: a hot-lead tag to sales, a churn-risk tag to customer success, a lifecycle change to the record's owner. For marketing and revenue teams who use Ortto journeys and want people to follow up by hand.

Ortto and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Alert the team when a tag is added in Ortto

Each tag added to a record posts the person and tag to Slack, so a tag set by a journey or a form becomes a prompt for someone to follow up.

Send each tag to the team that owns it

A Router reads the tag name. Hot-lead tags go to sales, churn-risk tags to customer success and event tags to the events team, each in its own channel.

DM the owner when a contact's lifecycle stage changes

Fields Updated watches the fields you choose. A Filter passes lifecycle changes, Find User by Email finds the owner and a direct message tells them their contact moved stage.

Post new business sign-ups and skip free email

A Filter lets through new records whose email is not on a free mail domain, so the sales channel sees company sign-ups rather than every newsletter subscriber.

Tell customer success when a VIP tag is removed

Tag Removed posts to a private success channel, so a customer dropping out of a VIP or paid segment gets a conversation instead of going unnoticed.

Summarise a person's new activity with AI

An AI Agent reads the activity data and writes one line on what the person did, such as viewing pricing again, before it posts to the sales channel.

Set up: tag alerts in Slack

At the end, each tag added to an Ortto record posts the person and the tag in your Slack channel.

  1. Connect Slack

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add the Slack workspace your team uses.

  2. Start with Tag Added

Create a workflow with Ortto and the Tag Added trigger, then follow the setup instructions on the trigger step.

  3. Tag a test record

Add a tag to a test person in Ortto so FlowMattic captures the record and tag fields.

  4. Post to Slack

Add Slack Send Channel Message, choose the channel, map the name, email and tag, test the step and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Journeys can add tags to many people at once. Filter or Router on the tag name before Tag Added posts to a busy channel.
  • Record fields depend on your Ortto setup and custom fields, so the mapping above is an example. Check a captured test before mapping.
  • Fields Updated fires for the fields you pick. Choose only the ones that should prompt a person, such as lifecycle stage or lead score.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Ortto and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Segments turn into follow-ups

Tags and field changes that Ortto already tracks become a message to a named person, so warm leads and at-risk customers get a human touch.

Audience data stays with you

Records pass through your own WordPress server on the way to Slack, not through another company's automation account.

Large audiences, same plan

Runs are unlimited on every FlowMattic plan, so a journey that tags thousands of people costs nothing extra.

Common questions

How do I send Ortto tag changes to Slack?

Create a FlowMattic workflow with the Ortto Tag Added or Tag Removed trigger, follow its setup instructions, then add Slack Send Channel Message with the person and tag mapped.

Can different tags go to different channels?

Yes. Add a Router after Tag Added that checks the tag name, with a Slack step and channel for each tag you care about.

Can a contact's owner get a direct message?

Yes. Use Find User by Email with the owner's email from the record, then Send Direct Message. It needs the same email in Ortto and Slack.

Which Ortto activities can post?

New Activity fires when a person's activity occurs. Use a Filter on the activity name so only the ones that matter, such as pricing page views or form fills, reach Slack.

Does this change journeys in Ortto?

No. FlowMattic only reads the events and posts to Slack. Journeys, tags and scoring keep running in Ortto as before.
