Connect WordPress and MasterStudy LMS

MasterStudy LMS runs your courses on WordPress, and WordPress knows who your users are and what roles they hold. FlowMattic, on the same site, joins the two: new users and role changes enrol or unenrol students, and course completions, passed quizzes and lessons update roles and profiles. Course sellers and training teams stop managing access by hand.

Do this in MasterStudy LMS7 actions

1. TriggerNew User
2. ActionEnroll user to course

When WordPress fires New User, FlowMattic runs Enroll user to course in MasterStudy LMS with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

WordPress and MasterStudy LMS workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Enrol every new user in an intro course

Each person who registers on the site is enrolled in your free welcome course, so they have something to start on the moment they log in.

Open a course when a member role is given

Membership and payment plugins grant a role. A Filter checks it is the paid role, then MasterStudy enrols the user in the course that role includes.

Take the course away when the role is removed

When a membership role is removed, the user is unenrolled from its course, so a cancelled member cannot keep studying paid lessons.

Give staff a fresh start on yearly training

Once a year, a Schedule loops over every user with the staff role and resets their progress in the compliance course, so everyone takes it again.

Set up: enrol new users in a course

At the end, every new WordPress user is enrolled in the MasterStudy LMS course you choose.

  1. Check both are active

MasterStudy LMS must be active on the same WordPress site as FlowMattic. Neither app needs a connection under Connects.

  2. Start with New User

Create a workflow with the WordPress New User trigger and register a test account so FlowMattic captures the user's ID and email.

  3. Add Enroll user to course

Add a MasterStudy LMS Enroll user to course step, map the user ID from the trigger and pick the course.

  4. Test and switch on

Test the step, log in as the test user to check the course is listed, then switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • MasterStudy LMS actions work on existing WordPress users. Map the user ID from the trigger into each action.
  • User Role Changed and User Role Removed fire for every role change on the site, including ones made by other plugins. Filter on the exact role slug before enrolling or unenrolling.
  • Course Completed fires when the user has completed all lessons and quizzes of a course. If only one course should grant a role, filter on that course's ID.
  • Resetting progress clears what each student has completed in that course. Test the yearly reset on one user before running it for a whole role.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

WordPress and MasterStudy LMS connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Access follows the user's role

Course access is enrolled and removed with WordPress roles, so whatever plugin grants a role also grants the course.

No connection to set up

Both apps live on your WordPress site, so the workflow reads and writes users and courses directly on your own server.

Any number of students

FlowMattic has unlimited runs, so a school enrolling thousands of students a month pays the same as one with ten.

Common questions

Can WordPress enrol new users in a MasterStudy LMS course automatically?

Yes. Create a FlowMattic workflow with the WordPress New User trigger and a MasterStudy LMS Enroll user to course step, map the user ID and pick the course.

How do I give course access with a membership role?

Start with User Role Changed, add a Filter for the paid role, then Enroll user to course. A second workflow on User Role Removed can run Unroll user from course.

Can finishing a course change what a student sees?

Yes. Use the MasterStudy LMS Course Completed trigger with WordPress Add Role to User. Pages or forums limited to that role then open for the graduate.

Can I mark a course complete for someone who finished elsewhere?

Yes. Use Mark a course complete for the user, for example after an admin changes a profile field, which a User Profile Field Updated trigger can catch.

Can failed quizzes trigger anything?

Yes. Quiz Failed can save the attempt in user meta, or use the percentage trigger to act only on scores below the level you set.
