Connect Connecteam and Slack

Connecteam tracks the hours of your deskless staff from their phones. FlowMattic passes those time clock events to Slack: who started a shift, who forgot to clock out, which edits an admin approved and which requests were declined. Site managers see their crew's day in a channel, and payroll gets the exceptions without exporting a timesheet.

When Connecteam fires Clock Out, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

Connecteam and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Tell managers when an employee clocks out

The shift manager sees each person leave with the time and job, so handovers and early departures are noticed on the day rather than on the payroll report.

Post clock-ins to the channel for each site

A Router reads the job or location of the clock-in and posts it to that site's channel, so every site lead knows who has arrived without opening the admin app.

Ask an employee to confirm hours after an auto clock out

An auto clock out usually means someone forgot to clock out. A direct message asks the employee to send their real finish time before the timesheet closes.

Log approved geo-fence exceptions for payroll

When an admin approves a clock out outside the geo-fence, the payroll team's private channel gets the name, time and approver, so the exception is on record when hours are checked.

Let staff know when a time request is declined

Employees who ask for a missed shift to be added hear straight away in Slack that the admin said no, and can talk to their manager before payday instead of after.

Keep an audit trail of admin edits to time entries

Every time an admin changes a recorded shift, the owner's private channel hears who changed what. Hours that affect pay are never edited without a second person seeing it.

Set up: clock-outs to the managers' channel

At the end, each Connecteam clock out posts to your managers' channel with the employee, the time and the job.

  1. Connect Slack

In Connects, add a Slack account that is in the managers' channel.

  2. Use the Clock Out trigger

Start a workflow with Connecteam's Clock Out trigger and follow the trigger's instructions to link your Connecteam time clock.

  3. Clock in and out on a test user

Clock a test user in and out from the Connecteam app, so FlowMattic captures a real clock out.

  4. Add the Slack message

Add Send Channel Message, pick the managers' channel and map the employee name, clock out time and job into the text.

  5. Test and switch on

Test the Slack step with the captured clock out, check the message reads well, and turn the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Connecteam sends admin-approved and auto-approved requests as separate triggers. If your time clock approves some requests on its own, add a workflow for the Auto Approved events too.
  • Clock In and Clock Out run for every employee, which is a lot of messages for a large crew. Route by job, or keep the full feed in one channel that managers can mute.
  • Direct messages to employees need their Slack account to use the same email as Connecteam, since Find User by Email matches on email.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Connecteam and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Managers see the crew without the admin app

Arrivals, departures and forgotten clock outs appear in the site channel, which is where field managers already talk to their teams.

Pay exceptions are on record

Approved edits, geo-fence exceptions and declined requests land in a private channel, so payroll has a trail when someone queries their hours.

No charge for every clock-in

FlowMattic runs on your own WordPress site with unlimited runs, so a crew of two hundred clocking in twice a day costs nothing extra.

Common questions

How do I get Slack notifications for Connecteam clock-ins?

Create a FlowMattic workflow with the Connecteam Clock In trigger, add Slack's Send Channel Message and choose the channel. Clock in a test user so the fields are captured, map the name, time and job into the message, and switch it on.

Can each location have its own Slack channel?

Yes. Put a Router after the trigger with one path per job or location, each with its own Send Channel Message. A Lookup Table can turn the job name into the channel if you have many sites.

What is an auto clock out?

It is a clock out Connecteam makes itself when a shift runs past your time clock's limit, usually because the employee forgot. The Auto Clock Out trigger lets you ask them for the real finish time.

Can I be told when an admin deletes a shift?

Yes. Admin Delete runs when an admin removes a time entry. Send it to a private channel with Send Private Channel Message so owners or payroll see every deletion.
