Connect Fluent Forms and Twilio

Some form entries should not wait in an inbox: a repair request, a booking, a payment. FlowMattic sends a Twilio text or places a phone call when a Fluent Forms entry arrives, to the customer, to your staff or both. It suits service businesses, clinics and shops that take requests through WordPress forms and answer by phone.

Fluent Forms and Twilio workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Text the on-duty technician about each repair request

The SMS carries the name, address and fault from the form, so the technician can reply or set off without opening a laptop.

Send the customer an SMS confirming their booking

A text with the date and reference reassures the customer that the request arrived and gives them a number to reply to if plans change.

Phone the manager when a form is marked urgent

A Filter checks the urgency field. Only urgent entries trigger Call Phone, which reads a short message aloud, so after-hours emergencies are heard.

Text a receipt after each paid form

New Payment Submission (Pro) fires once the payment goes through, and the SMS confirms the amount and what was bought.

Reach signups on the channel they picked

A Router reads the preferred contact field and sends a Twilio SMS to people who chose text, while other paths send email or another message type.

Send an appointment reminder the day before

Delay holds the workflow until a day before the date chosen on the form, then sends the reminder text, which cuts no-shows for small practices.

Set up: SMS alerts for repair requests

At the end, every submission of your repair form sends a text to the technician's phone.

  1. Connect Twilio

In FlowMattic, open Connects and add Twilio with your Account SID, auth token and the Twilio number that will send texts.

  2. Start with New Form Submission

Create a workflow, choose Fluent Forms and New Form Submission, pick the form and submit a test entry.

  3. Write the message

Add Twilio with Send SMS, enter the technician's number and build a short message from the name, address and fault fields.

  4. Test and switch on

Run the step test, check the text arrives on the phone, then switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Fluent Forms actions, Set Custom Response and Redirect to Custom URL, only apply while a visitor is submitting, so these workflows start from the form rather than from an incoming SMS.
  • Twilio expects phone numbers with the country code, such as +44. Use a phone field with country selection or add the code with Text Formatter.
  • New Payment Submission (Pro) needs Fluent Forms Pro with a payment method set up on the form.
  • Text people only when the form makes clear they will receive SMS, and keep each message short to stay within one SMS segment.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Fluent Forms and Twilio connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Urgent entries get noticed

A text or a call reaches the person on duty when an email alert would sit unread until the morning.

Form data stays on your site

Fluent Forms and FlowMattic both run in your WordPress install, and only the message text goes to Twilio.

Pay Twilio, not per run

FlowMattic has no per-task charge, so the only cost of a busy week is the Twilio messages you send.

Common questions

Can I send an SMS to the person who filled in the form?

Yes. Map the form's phone field to the To number in Send SMS. Make sure numbers include the country code, either from the field or by adding it with Text Formatter.

Can a form trigger a phone call instead of a text?

Yes. Call Phone dials the number you set and reads your message aloud. It suits alarms and urgent requests where a text might be missed.

Can an incoming SMS create a Fluent Forms entry?

No. Fluent Forms has no action that creates an entry. Twilio's Incoming SMS trigger can still start other workflows, such as logging replies in a sheet or a CRM.

Can staff and customer both get a text from one entry?

Yes. Add two Send SMS steps to the workflow, one to your staff number and one to the phone field, each with its own message.
