Connect WordPress and Telegram

Use a Telegram bot as the voice of your WordPress site. New articles and podcast episodes go to your channel, admins hear about new comments and logins, paying members get an invite link to the private group, and a quick message to the bot can start a draft post. It suits publishers, communities and site owners who run things from their phone.

When this happens in WordPress32 triggers

Do this in Telegram11 actions

1. TriggerNew Post
2. ActionSend a Text Message

When WordPress fires New Post, FlowMattic runs Send a Text Message in Telegram with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

WordPress and Telegram workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Share every new post in your Telegram channel

Publishing a post sends its title, excerpt and link to your channel, so subscribers who follow you on Telegram see new articles without checking the site.

Send new podcast episodes as audio files

When an audio file is uploaded to the media library, a Filter checks the file type and Send an Audio File posts the episode to the channel for listening inside Telegram.

Get a message when a new comment needs moderation

New comments arrive in a private admin chat with the author, post and text, so a spam wave or an angry reader is noticed while you are away from the dashboard.

Alert yourself when an administrator logs in

A Filter keeps only logins by administrator accounts and sends the username and time to your Telegram, which makes an unexpected login easy to spot.

Give new members an invite link to the private group

When a user gets your member role, Create Invite Link makes a link to the group and an Email (SMTP) step sends it to them, so joining needs no manual approval.

Remove lapsed members from the Telegram group

When the member role is removed, Get User Metadata reads the Telegram user ID you saved on the profile and Ban User takes them out of the group.

Start a draft post by messaging your bot

Send the bot a message that starts with a word like draft. A Filter checks for it and New Post saves the rest as a draft, so ideas are captured from your phone.

Set Webhook / Watch UpdatesFilterNew Post

Set up: share every new post

Once this runs, each post you publish is announced in your Telegram channel with its title and link.

  1. Create the bot

Create a bot with Telegram's BotFather, copy its token and add the bot to your channel so it can post there.

  2. Connect Telegram

In FlowMattic, open Connects and add a Telegram connection with the bot token.

  3. Trigger on New Post

Create a workflow with WordPress and New Post, then publish a test post so its title, excerpt and link are captured.

  4. Send the message

Add Telegram Send a Text Message, enter the channel's chat ID, build the message from the post fields, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • The bot can only post to chats it belongs to. Add it to your channel or group before testing, and use that chat's ID in each step.
  • Telegram has one trigger, Set Webhook / Watch Updates, which runs for every update the bot receives. Filter on the chat or a keyword so only your own messages create posts.
  • Removing someone from a group with Ban User needs their Telegram user ID. Save it to the user's profile meta when they join, since WordPress does not store it by default.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

WordPress and Telegram connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Your site talks for itself

Posts, comments and member changes reach Telegram from your own WordPress server, without a separate automation service between them.

Every post, every comment

Runs are unlimited, so a busy site that publishes daily and gets hundreds of comments pays FlowMattic the same as a quiet blog.

Both directions with one bot

The same bot announces your content and listens for your messages, so Telegram can start WordPress work as well as receive it.

Common questions

Can WordPress post to a Telegram channel automatically?

Yes. Start a workflow with the WordPress New Post trigger and add Telegram Send a Text Message, or Send Photo if you want an image. The bot posts to any channel it has been added to.

Can I control WordPress from Telegram?

Partly. The Set Webhook / Watch Updates trigger receives messages sent to your bot, and a Filter plus WordPress actions such as New Post or Update Post can act on them.

Can only some posts be shared?

Yes. Add a Filter or a Router after New Post that checks the category or tag, so only announcements, or only tutorials, go to the channel.

Can Telegram give members access to a private group?

Yes. When a user gains your member role, Create Invite Link makes a link to the group and an Email (SMTP) step sends it to them.

Do I need a separate bot for each channel?

No. One bot can post to several channels and groups as long as it has been added to each. Use a different chat ID in each step.
