Connect Aha! and Slack

Product decisions live in Aha!, but most of the company reads Slack. FlowMattic posts new releases and features to the right channel, tells an assignee when a feature is theirs, and keeps the next release date in a channel topic. For product managers who want the roadmap seen without asking people to log in.

Do this in Slack14 actions

1. TriggerCreate a release
2. ActionSend Channel Message

When Aha! fires Create a release, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Aha! and Slack workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Alert the product team when a release is created

The release name and date post to the product channel, so engineering and marketing know what is planned as soon as the PM sets it up.

DM the owner when a feature is assigned to them

Find User by Email turns the assignee's email into a Slack user, and the DM gives them the feature name, release and link.

Tell support when a feature is marked shipped

A Filter keeps updates where the status became shipped, and the support channel hears about it, so agents can answer customers who asked for it.

Keep the next release date in the channel topic

When a release date moves, Set Channel Topic rewrites the topic of the release channel, so the date at the top is always the current plan.

Open a channel for each new release

Create Channel makes a release channel when the release is created, giving launch planning, QA and marketing one place for that version.

Remind the PM to write release notes

Add Reminder sets a Slack reminder for the product manager a few days before the release date, so the notes are ready on launch day.

Set up: release alerts in Slack

At the end, every release created in Aha! posts its name and date to your product channel.

  1. Connect Slack

Add your Slack workspace under Connects in FlowMattic.

  2. Start with Create a release

Create a workflow with Aha! and Create a release, and follow the trigger's instructions so Aha! sends its events to the workflow.

  3. Capture a release

Create a test release in an Aha! product so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  4. Post to the channel

Add Slack Send Channel Message, choose the product channel, map the release name, date and link, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Update a feature fires on any change to a feature. Use a Filter on the status or field you care about so the channel does not get every edit.
  • Find User by Email needs the same email in Aha! and Slack. If it finds nobody, send the message to a channel instead.
  • These workflows start from Aha! and post to Slack. Status changes are still made in Aha!, which keeps the roadmap the single source of truth.

Common questions

How do I send Aha! updates to Slack?

Create a FlowMattic workflow with an Aha! trigger such as Create a release or Update a feature, follow its instructions so Aha! sends events to the workflow, then add Slack Send Channel Message.

Can I post only features that change status?

Yes. Start with Update a feature and add a Filter that continues only when the status field has the value you want, such as shipped or ready to develop.

Can each release get a Slack channel?

Yes. Create a release can run Create Channel. Set Channel Topic can then add the release date, and Invite User To Channel can add the team.

Can features be posted to different channels by product?

Yes. A Router after the trigger reads the product or workspace name and sends each feature to that product team's channel.

Do I need an Aha! account for every Slack user?

No. Only the Aha! account that sends the events is needed. Everyone in the Slack channel can read the messages.
