Connect Email Parser and Google Sheets

Some apps only tell you things by email: order notices, shipping updates, daily reports. FlowMattic's Email Parser gives you an address to forward those emails to, and each one can become a Google Sheets row, update an existing row or import an attached report. You end up with a sheet you can sort and share instead of a pile of notifications.

When Email Parser fires Email Received, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

Email Parser and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every forwarded email as a row in Google Sheets

Sender, subject, date and body go into one row per email, which turns a notifications folder into a list you can search, filter and count.

Pull order numbers out of marketplace emails

A Text Formatter extracts the order number, buyer and amount from each notice, so the sheet holds clean columns instead of whole email bodies.

Import CSV reports that arrive by email

When a supplier or tool emails a CSV report, its records are written into an existing sheet, so the daily numbers land in the same place without opening attachments.

Update a shipment's row when the carrier emails

Lookup Row Data finds the row by tracking or order number from the email, and Update Row writes the new status, so the order sheet always shows where each parcel is.

Turn free-text enquiries into structured rows with AI

An AI Agent reads enquiry emails written in any style and returns name, company, budget and request, which go into their own columns for follow-up.

File emails from each sender on its own tab

A Router checks the sender or subject and writes invoices, bookings and alerts to separate tabs, so each person on the team opens only the tab they handle.

Set up: log each email as a row

At the end, every email sent or forwarded to your parser address is written to your sheet as a new row.

  1. Prepare the sheet

Create a spreadsheet with a header row such as From, Subject, Received and Body.

  2. Connect Google Sheets

Under Connects, add a Google Sheets connection with an account that can edit the spreadsheet. Email Parser is part of FlowMattic and needs no account.

  3. Start with Email Received

Create a workflow with Email Parser's Email Received trigger, copy the address it shows and send a test email to it.

  4. Forward real emails

Set up a forwarding rule in your mailbox, or change the notification address in the sending app, so the emails reach the parser.

  5. Map Add New Row

Add Google Sheets' Add New Row, choose the spreadsheet and tab, map the email fields, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Email Parser has two triggers, Email Received and Email Received (v2), and no actions, so these workflows always start with an incoming email. Google Sheets triggers cannot send emails through it.
  • Notification emails change format from time to time. If extracted fields come out empty, test the step again with a new email.
  • Forwarded emails carry your own address as the sender. Map the original sender from the body if that matters to your sheet.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Email Parser and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Works with apps that only send email

If a service has no integration but sends notifications, the parser turns those emails into data you can use.

Emails stay on your server

Parsed data goes from FlowMattic on your WordPress site to Google Sheets, with no outside service storing a copy.

Unlimited emails on any plan

Runs are unlimited, so a busy inbox of order notices costs the same as a few weekly reports.

Common questions

How does the Email Parser Google Sheets integration work?

The Email Received trigger gives you an address. Every email that reaches it starts the workflow, and Google Sheets steps such as Add New Row or Update Row write its sender, subject, body or extracted values into your sheet.

Can I parse attachments as well as the email body?

Yes for reports. Import CSV or JSON to Existing Sheet can take a CSV or JSON file from the email and add its records to a sheet.

Can I extract just one value, like an order number?

Yes. Use a Text Formatter to pull the value out of the subject or body, or an AI Agent if the emails do not follow one pattern.

Can one parser address feed several sheets?

Yes. Add a Router after the trigger and give each path its own Add New Row pointed at a different spreadsheet or tab.
