Connect Rocketlane and Slack

Rocketlane runs customer onboarding projects: phases, tasks, forms and approvals. FlowMattic sends the events that need a person to the right place in Slack, from overdue tasks to low CSAT scores and new customer invites, and can open a channel for each new project. For implementation and professional services teams.

Do this in Slack14 actions

1. TriggerTask Status Updated
2. ActionSend Channel Message

When Rocketlane fires Task Status Updated, FlowMattic runs Send Channel Message in Slack with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Post Rocketlane task status changes to the project channel

Each status change shows the task, project and new status, so the delivery team follows progress in Slack without opening every project.

Open a Slack channel for each new onboarding project

Create Channel uses the customer and project name, and Set Channel Topic adds the go-live target, giving the internal team one place per customer from kickoff.

DM the assignee when a task goes overdue

Find User by Email turns the task owner into a Slack user and a direct message names the task and project, a quieter nudge than a channel post.

Escalate low task CSAT scores to the team lead

A Filter passes scores below your threshold and posts them to a private leads channel, so an unhappy customer is called before the next milestone.

Tell the onboarding team when a customer is invited

A post in the onboarding channel when a customer contact joins the project lets the consultant send a personal hello before the kickoff call.

Share customer approvals as they come back

Approvals unblock the next phase. Posting each approval response tells the team they can start work instead of waiting for someone to check Rocketlane.

Flag phase due date changes to delivery managers

A moved phase due date often means a slipped go-live. A private post to delivery managers shows the old and new date so they can check capacity.

Set up: task status changes to Slack

At the end, every Rocketlane task status change posts the task, project and new status to your Slack channel.

  1. Connect Slack

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add a Slack connection for your services team's workspace.

  2. Choose Task Status Updated

Create a workflow with Rocketlane and Task Status Updated, and follow the trigger's instructions to link Rocketlane to the workflow.

  3. Change a test task

Move a task in a test project to a new status so FlowMattic captures the task and project fields.

  4. Post the update

Add Send Channel Message, choose the channel, include the task name, project and status, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Each Rocketlane event is its own trigger, so a project channel that should hear about statuses, approvals and overdue tasks needs one workflow per event.
  • Task Status Updated fires on every status move. Add a Filter for statuses that matter, such as blocked or done, if the channel gets noisy.
  • Slack channel names must be unique, so add a customer code or date to the project name when two customers share a name.
  • Field names depend on your Rocketlane project fields, so the mapping above is an example.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Rocketlane and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Customer risk shows up early

Overdue tasks, low CSAT and moved phase dates reach the people who can act while the project can still be saved.

One channel per customer

Channels opened from Project Created keep internal chatter about each onboarding together, next to the Rocketlane updates.

No per-task cost on busy projects

FlowMattic runs on your own WordPress site with unlimited runs, so projects with hundreds of task updates cost nothing extra.

Common questions

How do I connect Rocketlane to Slack?

Add a Slack connection in FlowMattic, create a workflow with a Rocketlane trigger such as Task Status Updated, then add a Slack step like Send Channel Message and map the task and project fields. Test it and switch it on.

Can each project post to its own channel?

Yes. Create the channel from Project Created, then in your other workflows use the project name in the channel field, or a Lookup Table that maps projects to channels.

Can I hear about new messages on tasks?

Yes. New Message on Task and Form New Message are triggers. Post them to the project channel so the team sees customer questions without watching the Rocketlane inbox.

Can overdue tasks go to the person who owns them?

Yes. Use Task Overdue, then Find User by Email with the assignee's email and Send Direct Message. Make sure Slack and Rocketlane use the same work email.

Can deleted or archived projects be logged?

Yes. Project Archived and Project Deleted are triggers. Post them to a private ops channel so a project removed by mistake is noticed.
