Connect Google Sheets and Notion

Many teams plan in Notion and count in Google Sheets. FlowMattic connects the two from your WordPress site: new Notion database items can be copied into a sheet, rows can become Notion items or pages, and a status changed on one side can be written to the other. Each workflow is built and tested on the visual builder.

Do this in Notion7 actions

1. TriggerNew Spreadsheet Row
2. ActionCreate Database Item

When Google Sheets fires New Spreadsheet Row, FlowMattic runs Create Database Item in Notion with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Back up new Notion database items to a Google Sheet

Every item added to a Notion database gets a row in a sheet. It is a plain copy for reporting, formulas and sharing with people who do not use Notion.

Turn rows from a planning sheet into Notion items

Imported leads, event sessions or content ideas are pasted into a sheet in bulk. Each new row becomes an item in the Notion database where the team works on it.

Copy status changes from Notion back to the sheet

When a Notion item is updated, the workflow finds its row by name or ID and rewrites the status and owner, so the reporting sheet does not drift from the board.

Comment on a Notion page with matching sheet data

Another tool calls a FlowMattic webhook with a reference. The workflow looks it up in the sheet and leaves a comment with the figures on the related Notion page.

Mark a Notion item approved from the sheet

Managers who live in spreadsheets change an approval column. The workflow finds the matching Notion item and updates its status, so the team sees the decision on the board.

Write a weekly report page in Notion from sheet data

Each Monday the workflow reads last week's rows, an AI agent writes a short summary, and a new Notion page holds it under your reports page for the team to read.

Set up: back up Notion items to a sheet

At the end, every new item in the Notion database you pick is added as a row in your Google Sheet.

  1. Connect Notion

Under Connects, add a Notion connection, then share the database with that connection inside Notion so FlowMattic can see it.

  2. Connect Google Sheets

Add a Google Sheets connection and give the sheet one header per Notion property you want to keep.

  3. Trigger on New Database Item

Create a workflow with Notion New Database Item, choose the database and add a test item to capture its properties.

  4. Add the row

Add Google Sheets Add New Row, map each property to its column, test the step and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Notion only shows FlowMattic the pages and databases you share with the connection. If a database is missing from the list, share it in Notion first.
  • To update one side from the other, keep a shared key in both, such as the Notion page URL in a sheet column, and look it up before writing.
  • Properties depend on your database, so the mapping above is an example.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Google Sheets and Notion connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Notion for work, Sheets for numbers

Teams keep planning in Notion while finance and leadership get rows they can sum, chart and share.

Large databases, flat cost

FlowMattic runs on your WordPress server with unlimited runs, so copying every item and every status change adds no per-task charge.

Test before it goes live

Each step can be tested with a captured Notion item, so you see the row the workflow will write before switching it on.

Common questions

Can I sync a Notion database with Google Sheets both ways?

Yes, with two workflows. One starts from New Database Item or Updated Database Item and writes rows. The other starts from a sheet trigger and creates or updates Notion items. A shared key column keeps them matched.

Will edits to a Notion item create a new row?

Not if you look the row up first. Start from Updated Database Item, use Lookup Row Data to find the row, and run Update Row instead of Add New Row.

Can a sheet row create a Notion page instead of a database item?

Yes. Use Create Page with a parent page, which suits meeting notes or reports, or Create Database Item when the row belongs in a database.

Why is my Notion database not in the list?

Notion only lets a connection see what has been shared with it. Open the database in Notion, add the connection, and refresh the step in FlowMattic.
