Connect MemberPress and Slack

A membership site runs on signups, renewals and the occasional refund, and most of it happens while you are busy elsewhere. FlowMattic posts the MemberPress events that matter to Slack, from paid signups to course completions, and can act on them, such as stopping a subscription after a failed renewal. It suits course creators, communities and paid newsletters on WordPress.

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Announce every paid signup in a team channel

Member Signup Completed fires once payment is accepted, so the channel shows real new members with their plan, not people who dropped off at checkout.

Stop a subscription after a failed recurring payment

For plans you would rather end than chase, a failed recurring payment cancels the subscription and Slack tells the team, so access and billing stay in step.

Ping the community manager before a trial ends

When MemberPress's trial reminder fires, the member's details go as a direct message to whoever looks after new members, a cue for a personal check-in.

Send refunds to a private finance channel

Each refunded transaction posts the member, amount and membership to a private channel, so the bookkeeper sees refunds without reading every sales alert.

Course Completed posts a short congratulations to a wins channel, which gives the team stories for testimonials and shows which courses people actually finish.

Invite active members to your members-only Slack channel

For communities that run inside Slack, a member who becomes active is found by email and invited to the members channel, so access matches their membership.

Set up: paid signups announced in Slack

At the end, every completed MemberPress signup posts to the Slack channel you choose.

  1. Connect Slack

Add your Slack workspace under Connects in FlowMattic. MemberPress runs on the same WordPress site.

  2. Choose Member Signup Completed

Start a workflow with the MemberPress Member Signup Completed trigger and complete a test signup, for example with a free or test membership.

  3. Write the message

Add Send Channel Message, choose the channel and include the member's name, email and membership.

  4. Test and switch on

Run the step with the captured signup, check the channel and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Member Added fires before payment is accepted. Use Member Signup Completed when you only want paid signups in Slack.
  • Member Active on Membership may fire more than once for the same member and membership, so expect repeat runs in workflows built on it.
  • Invite User To Channel only works for people already in your Slack workspace, and the connected account must be in that channel.
  • On this page, MemberPress actions such as Pause Subscription start from MemberPress events, a Schedule or a Webhook.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

MemberPress and Slack connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Member data stays in WordPress

MemberPress and FlowMattic share one site, so member details go from your database to Slack without an outside automation service in between.

Launch day costs the same

Runs are unlimited, so an enrolment launch with hundreds of signups needs no bigger plan than any other week.

Alerts that can act

With 41 MemberPress actions, the same workflow can cancel, pause or look up a subscription before it posts to Slack.

Common questions

Which MemberPress trigger should I use for new members?

Member Signup Completed fires after payment is accepted. Member Added fires earlier, before payment details are accepted, which suits abandoned-signup follow-up rather than welcome posts.

Can I get Slack alerts for failed payments without cancelling anything?

Yes. Use Recurring Transaction Failed or Transaction Failed with only a Send Channel Message step, and leave out Cancel Subscription.

Can Slack alerts differ by membership level?

Yes. Put a Router on the membership title after the trigger, so premium signups go to a VIP channel and others to the general one.

Can a Slack message pause or refund a member?

Not directly, because these workflows post to Slack rather than start from it. If another tool can send a webhook, use the Webhook trigger with Pause Subscription or Refund Transaction.

Can I hear about lesson progress, not only courses?

Yes. Lesson Completed, Quiz Attempted and Assignment Completed are MemberPress triggers too, each able to post to its own channel.
