Connect Airtable and Notion

Many teams keep structured data in Airtable and the write-ups, briefs and project notes in Notion. FlowMattic moves records between the two from your own WordPress site, so a new Airtable record can become a Notion database item or page, and a Notion item can create or update the matching record in Airtable.

When Airtable fires New Record, FlowMattic runs Create Database Item in Notion with the data from that event.

Airtable and Notion workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Add each new Airtable record to a Notion database

People who plan in Notion see each record soon after it is saved in Airtable, as a database item they can link, comment on and sort in their own views.

Create an Airtable record from each new Notion item

Ideas or requests captured in a Notion database are added to the Airtable base where operations tracks budgets, owners and dates in structured fields.

Write a status change in Notion back to Airtable

When someone moves a Notion item to a new status, the linked Airtable record is updated too, using the Airtable record ID kept in a Notion property.

Open a Notion brief page for every new content record

Content teams plan pieces in Airtable. Each new record creates a Notion page under the content hub with the title, keyword and due date, so the writer starts in a ready page.

Route incoming records by region into the right system

Records sent to a Webhook are routed by region: EMEA and APAC teams keep theirs in Airtable while the Americas team works in a Notion database.

Skip Notion duplicates when the item already exists

Search the Notion database for the record's name or email first. A Router updates the existing item and creates a new one only when nothing matches.

Summarise customer feedback records into Notion

Feedback lands in Airtable as long free text. An AI Agent sums each one up and tags its theme, and the short version goes to the product team's Notion database.

Set up: new Airtable records in Notion

When you finish, each record added to your Airtable table appears as an item in a Notion database.

  1. Line up the fields

Make sure the Notion database has a property for each Airtable field you want to copy, plus a text property for the Airtable record ID.

  2. Connect Airtable and Notion

Add both connections under Connects, making sure the Notion connection can reach the database you will write to.

  3. Start from New Record

Create a workflow with the Airtable New Record trigger, pick the base and table, and add a test record so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  4. Map Create Database Item

Add a Notion step with Create Database Item, choose the database, map each field to its property, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Airtable's only trigger is New Record, so edits made in Airtable cannot start a workflow. Changes flow back from Notion through Updated Database Item.
  • Keep the Airtable record ID in a Notion property. Update Record and Get Record need it to find the right record later.
  • Field and property names depend on your base and database, so the mapping above is an example.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Airtable and Notion connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Data in Airtable, context in Notion

Records keep their structure in Airtable while Notion holds the pages and discussion around them, without anyone copying fields by hand.

Your records pass through your server

FlowMattic runs on your WordPress site, so customer and project data goes from Airtable to Notion without a third automation service in the middle.

Large bases at the same cost

Runs are unlimited on every plan, so importing a busy table or syncing every status change does not need a bigger plan.

Common questions

Can Notion and Airtable stay in sync both ways?

Partly. New Airtable records can go to Notion, and new or updated Notion items can go to Airtable. Airtable has no updated record trigger, so edits made in Airtable do not flow to Notion.

Can I add records to a Notion page instead of a database?

Yes. Use Create Page to make a page inside a parent page, or Create Comment on page to add a record's details as a comment on a page you find with Find Page (By Title).

How do I avoid duplicate Notion items?

Run Find Database Item on a unique property such as email or record ID before writing. A Router then updates the item it found or creates a new one.

Can deleting a Notion item delete the Airtable record?

Notion has no deleted item trigger here. You can mark items with a status instead, catch it with Updated Database Item, and then remove the record with Delete Record.

Do linked records and attachments copy across?

FlowMattic passes the field values Airtable sends. Linked records usually arrive as IDs and attachments as links, so map them into text or URL properties in Notion.
