Connect Airtable and Discord

Run a Discord community with an Airtable base behind it. New records can announce events, open forum threads or give a member a role, and Discord activity such as new members, forum posts and suggestions can be stored as records you sort and report on. FlowMattic runs the workflows from your WordPress site.

Airtable and Discord workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Post a Discord message for each new Airtable record

New events, releases or job openings added to a table are announced in the Discord channel you pick, with the record's details in the message.

Log Discord forum posts as Airtable records

Questions and bug reports posted in a Discord forum are saved to a table with author, title and link, so your team can track status and spot repeat issues.

Keep a member roster in Airtable

Each person who joins the server gets a record with their name and join date, which helps paid communities match Discord members to subscriptions.

Collect suggestions from a channel into a table

A Filter keeps messages from the suggestions channel that are longer than a few words, and each becomes a record your team can vote on and tag.

Give a Discord role to approved applicants

Moderators add approved applicants to an Airtable table with their Discord username. The workflow finds that member in the server and gives them the member role.

Open a forum thread for each new event record

Each event added to the base gets its own Discord forum post, so attendees discuss it in one place instead of a crowded general channel.

Set up: new records announced in Discord

At the end, every new record in your Airtable table posts a message to a Discord channel.

  1. Connect Airtable

Under Connects, add Airtable with access to the base you want to watch.

  2. Connect Discord

Add Discord and make sure the bot is in your server and allowed to post in the channel.

  3. Trigger on New Record

Create a workflow with Airtable New Record, choose the base and table, and add a test record.

  4. Post the message

Add Discord Send Channel Message, pick the server and channel, write the message with the record's fields, test it and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Airtable's only trigger is New Record, so a changed record does not post again. Add a new record when you want a new announcement.
  • The Discord bot only sees and posts in channels its role allows. Check channel permissions if a channel is missing or a post fails.
  • New Message Posted to Channel fires for every message in that channel, so pick a quiet channel or add a Filter before writing records.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Airtable and Discord connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

A base behind the server

Airtable keeps the structured side of the community, such as members, events and suggestions, while Discord stays the place people talk.

Active servers, same cost

FlowMattic runs on your WordPress site with unlimited runs, so logging every forum post or join costs nothing extra.

Link to your site's members

The same workflow can check a WordPress user or a membership on your site before it gives a Discord role.

Common questions

How do I connect Airtable and Discord?

In FlowMattic, connect both apps, then start a workflow from Airtable New Record with a Discord action such as Send Channel Message, or from a Discord trigger with Airtable Create Record. Test each step with a sample and switch the workflow on.

Can updated Airtable records post to Discord?

Not with the Airtable app here, which only triggers on new records. A common way round is a separate updates table where each change is added as a new record.

Can Discord messages update an existing record?

Yes, if the message carries the record ID. Use Update Record with that ID. Otherwise Create Record adds a new one for each message.

Can members get a direct message instead of a channel post?

Yes. Use Find User and Send Direct Message to reach one member, for example to tell an applicant they were approved.
