Connect Airtable and WordPress

Plan in Airtable, publish in WordPress, and keep both sides informed. New Airtable records can become posts or user accounts on your site, and new posts, users and comments on the site can be added to Airtable tables. FlowMattic runs it as a plugin on the same WordPress site, so there is no outside connector to host.

Airtable and WordPress workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Publish a WordPress post from each new Airtable record

Editors plan articles in an Airtable content table. A new record has an AI agent write the draft and FlowMattic creates the post, so the base stays the plan of record.

Write the new post's link back into the Airtable record

After the post is created, Update Record stores its ID and URL on the record that asked for it, so the content table shows which ideas are live and where.

Add every new site member to an Airtable members table

Membership and course sites get a record per registered user with name, email and role, where the team can add notes and views without touching wp-admin.

Give client portal access from an Airtable list

Add a client to Airtable and the workflow checks the site for their email. A Router gives an existing user the client role or creates a new account with that role.

Keep a published content inventory in Airtable

Each post you publish adds a record with title, URL, author and date. Content audits and refresh plans start from that table instead of an export.

Copy existing posts into Airtable once

Before the inventory workflow takes over, pull every post of a type with one scheduled run, loop over the list and create a record for each one.

Track role changes for a membership audit

When a user's role changes, a record logs who, the old and new role and the date, which helps when you need to answer who had access at any time.

Set up: a post from each new record

At the end, adding a record to your Airtable content table creates a WordPress post from it.

  1. Connect Airtable

Under Connects, add an Airtable connection that can read and edit the base holding your content table.

  2. Trigger on New Record

Create a workflow with Airtable New Record, choose the base and table, and add a sample record so its fields are captured.

  3. Write the draft

Add an AI Agent step that takes the record's topic and notes and returns the article body. Skip it if the record already holds the full text.

  4. Create the post

Add WordPress New Post, map the title, body and category, then test the run and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Airtable has one trigger in FlowMattic, New Record, so editing a record later does not update the post. Store the post ID on the record if a later workflow needs it.
  • WordPress itself needs no connection. FlowMattic is a plugin on the same site, so the WordPress steps work straight away.
  • Field names depend on your base, so the mapping above is an example.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Airtable and WordPress connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

No connector between the two

FlowMattic sits inside WordPress, so posts and users are created directly on the site rather than through an outside service calling in.

Big bases, same cost

Runs are unlimited, so copying hundreds of posts or users into Airtable in one go costs nothing extra.

Planning stays in Airtable

Writers, clients and editors who never log in to wp-admin can still plan and track content in the base they already use.

Common questions

What does the WordPress Airtable integration let me automate?

Airtable records can create WordPress posts and users or change roles, and WordPress events such as new posts, new users, comments and role changes can add records to Airtable. All of it is built on the FlowMattic workflow builder in wp-admin.

Can an Airtable record update a post that already exists?

Yes, if the record holds the post ID. Use WordPress Update Post with that ID. The workflow has to start from a new record, because Airtable only offers the New Record trigger.

Can posts be created with custom fields?

Update Post works with custom fields, so create the post with New Post and then set its fields with Update Post in the same workflow.

Does it work with custom post types?

The WordPress steps cover any post type for updates and lookups, such as Get Posts by Post Type. Pick the type in the step.

Can new comments on the site go to Airtable too?

Yes. Start a workflow with the WordPress New Comment or Comment Approved trigger and add Airtable Create Record. Feedback and questions from readers then sit in a table your team can sort and tag.
