Connect Fluent Support and OpenAI (ChatGPT)

Fluent Support runs your help desk inside WordPress. FlowMattic sends ticket text to OpenAI and acts on the answer: tickets get topic tags, a first reply is drafted and held for an agent to approve, abusive messages are flagged, and solved tickets become question-and-answer pairs you can turn into help articles.

1. TriggerTicket Created
2. ActionGenerate Content

When Fluent Support fires Ticket Created, FlowMattic runs Generate Content in OpenAI (ChatGPT) with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Tag each new ticket by topic

OpenAI reads the subject and message and answers with one topic such as billing, bug or how-to. A Router adds the matching tag, so agents filter their queue by topic.

Draft a first reply and wait for an agent to approve it

The model writes a reply from your product notes. Human in the Loop holds it until an agent approves or edits it, and only then is it posted to the ticket.

Flag abusive customer replies for a lead

Create Moderation classifies each customer reply. Flagged replies get an escalation tag, so a team lead takes over rather than a new agent.

Turn closed tickets into FAQ entries

When an agent closes a ticket, OpenAI condenses the conversation into a question and an answer and stores them in WP Tables for your docs writer.

Describe customer screenshots for the agent

When a ticket includes an image link, Analyze Image describes what the screenshot shows, and the description is emailed to the support lead before they open the ticket.

Set up: topic tags on new tickets

At the end, each new ticket carries a topic tag chosen by OpenAI from your own list.

  1. Create the tags

In Fluent Support, create the tags you want, such as Billing, Bug, How-to and Feature request.

  2. Connect OpenAI

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add an OpenAI connection with an API key from your OpenAI account.

  3. Start with Ticket Created

Create a workflow with the Fluent Support Ticket Created trigger and open a test ticket so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  4. Classify the ticket

Add OpenAI Generate Content with a prompt that lists your tags and asks for exactly one of them, passing in the subject and message.

  5. Tag it

Add a Router with one path per tag, each ending in Add Tag to Ticket (Pro). Test with a few sample tickets and switch on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Add Tag to Ticket (Pro) and Remove a Tag From Ticket (Pro) need Fluent Support Pro.
  • Reply to Ticket posts as an agent on the ticket. Put Human in the Loop before it so no AI reply reaches a customer without review.
  • Ask OpenAI for exactly one word from a fixed list. A Router then has a clear value to compare, and odd answers can fall to a default path.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Fluent Support and OpenAI (ChatGPT) connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Tickets go only where you choose

Ticket text goes from your WordPress site to OpenAI under your own API key, and nowhere else, which matters for support conversations.

Every ticket, no run limit

FlowMattic runs are unlimited, so tagging and drafting for every ticket costs only your OpenAI usage.

The help desk is already in WordPress

Fluent Support and FlowMattic run on the same site, so tags and replies are written straight back to your tickets.

Common questions

Can OpenAI answer Fluent Support tickets automatically?

It can draft the answer, and Reply to Ticket can post it. We suggest putting Human in the Loop between them, so an agent approves each reply before the customer sees it.

Which OpenAI action should I use for classifying tickets?

Generate Content or Ask Chat GPT both work. Give the prompt your list of tags and ask for one of them only, then branch on the answer with a Router.

Can it translate tickets in other languages?

Yes. Ask Chat GPT can translate the message to English for your agents. Post it with Reply to Ticket only after review, or email it to the agent instead.

Do I need Fluent Support Pro?

Only for the tag actions. Ticket Created, the reply actions and the customer actions are available without Pro.

Can I use voice messages from customers?

If a ticket links to an audio file, Create Transcription can turn it into text, which you can then summarise or tag the same way as a written ticket.
