Connect Jotform and WordPress

Jotform handles forms that WordPress forms plugins find hard, such as applications, approvals and long registrations. FlowMattic runs inside WordPress, so each Jotform submission can create a user, a draft post or a media file on your site directly. It suits membership sites, schools, associations and publishers that take submissions from the public.

When Jotform fires New Form Submission, FlowMattic runs New User in WordPress with the data from that event.

Jotform and WordPress workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Create a WordPress user account from each Jotform registration

Members, students or vendors fill in your Jotform and get a WordPress account with the role you choose, without an admin creating each one by hand.

Only create accounts when username and email are present

Optional fields left blank make account creation fail. A Filter checks both are filled before New User runs, so incomplete registrations are skipped.

Turn guest post submissions into draft posts

A Filter checks a field, such as the agreement checkbox or a category, then New Post creates a draft with the title and body, ready for an editor to review.

Send new members a link to set their own password

Never ask for passwords in a form. Create User if Not Exists makes the account, and Send Password Reset emails a link so the person picks their own.

Save uploaded photos to the WordPress media library

Contest entries, headshots or portfolio images uploaded in Jotform become media items, and Move Media to Folder files them by form so they are easy to find.

Members send new details such as phone, company or address. Get User by Email finds the account and Update User Meta saves the new values to their profile.

When an application form includes an approval answer, a Filter passes approved ones and Change User Role moves the applicant to the member role.

Set up: user accounts from Jotform

At the end, each new submission of your registration Jotform creates a WordPress user with the role you choose.

  1. Connect Jotform

Under Connects, add your Jotform account. WordPress needs no connection, because FlowMattic runs on your site.

  2. Start with New Form Submission

Create a workflow with the Jotform New Form Submission trigger, choose the form and submit a test entry.

  3. Add New User

Add WordPress New User, map username, email, first and last name, and choose the role for new accounts.

  4. Test and switch on

Test the step with the captured entry, check the user in wp-admin, delete the test user and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Every workflow here starts from a Jotform submission. WordPress triggers such as New User can start other workflows, but cannot write back to a Jotform submission.
  • New User fails when the email or username already exists. Use Create User if Not Exists for forms that returning members may fill in again.
  • Form fields are your own, so the mapping is an example. Map from a real test submission.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Jotform and WordPress connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Runs inside your WordPress

FlowMattic creates users, posts and media on the same site it runs on, so there is no WordPress connection to set up or keep alive.

Big intakes, same plan

Runs are unlimited, so a school intake or a conference registration creating thousands of accounts needs no bigger plan.

Submissions stay on your site

Applicant details go from Jotform straight to your WordPress server, with no extra automation service storing them.

Common questions

Can Jotform create WordPress users automatically?

Yes. Use New Form Submission as the trigger and WordPress New User or Create User if Not Exists as the action, mapping the username, email and name fields and picking a role.

Can a Jotform submission become a published post?

Yes. New Post can create the post as a draft for review or publish it right away. Many sites keep it as a draft and use Set Post Status after an editor checks it.

What happens to files uploaded in Jotform?

Map the file URL into New Media to add it to the media library. The workflow library also has a template that saves the file to WordPress and uploads it to Google Drive.

Can I give different roles depending on an answer?

Yes. Add a Router after the trigger that checks the answer, such as member type, and give each path its own New User step with a different role.

Do I need a WordPress connection?

No. FlowMattic runs inside your WordPress site, so WordPress actions work without a separate connection. You only connect Jotform.
