Connect Monday.com and Notion

Many teams plan work on a Monday.com board and write specs and notes in Notion. FlowMattic connects the two so new items show up in a Notion database, status changes follow, a project brief page opens for each new project, and items added in Notion appear on the board.

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Copy each new Monday.com item into a Notion database

Writers and stakeholders who live in Notion see the board's work as database items with owner, due date and status, without a Monday.com seat.

Mark the Notion item done when the status changes

When the status column reaches Done, the workflow finds the Notion item by its stored Monday.com ID and updates its status, so both views agree.

Open a Notion brief page for every new project

Items in a projects board get a Notion page under your briefs parent page, titled after the item, ready for goals, scope and links.

Turn Notion requests into Monday.com items

A request database in Notion collects ideas from the wider company. Each new entry becomes an item on the team's intake board.

Send Notion edits back to the board

When someone changes a due date or priority in Notion, the workflow finds the item by column value and updates those columns on the board.

Set up: new items into Notion

Once set up, every item created on your chosen board appears as an item in a Notion database.

  1. Prepare the Notion database

Create a database with properties for name, status, owner, due date and a text property for the Monday.com item ID.

  2. Connect both apps

Under Connects in FlowMattic, add a Monday.com connection and a Notion connection, and share the database with the Notion connection.

  3. Start with Item Creation

Create a workflow with the Monday.com Item Creation trigger, pick the board and add a test item so FlowMattic captures its columns.

  4. Create the database item

Add Notion Create Database Item, map the item name, columns and item ID to the properties, test and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Store each side's ID on the other side. Updates find their match with Find Database Item or Get Item by Column Value, and that needs an ID to search for.
  • A two-way sync can loop: a Notion update changes the board, which fires a Monday.com trigger. Add a Filter that stops when nothing has really changed.
  • The Notion connection only sees pages and databases that have been shared with it in Notion.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Monday.com and Notion connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Project details stay in your hands

Board items and Notion pages pass through your own WordPress server, not a separate automation service with access to both workspaces.

Two-way sync with no task meter

Runs are unlimited, so syncing every status change and comment in both directions does not push you onto a bigger plan.

Each tool keeps its job

Planning stays on the board and writing stays in Notion, with the links between them kept by the workflow instead of by hand.

Common questions

How do I sync Monday.com items to a Notion database?

Start with the Monday.com Item Creation trigger and add Notion Create Database Item. Map the item name and columns to database properties and save the Monday.com item ID, which later update workflows use to find the right Notion item.

Can changes in Notion update the board?

Yes. Use the Notion Updated Database Item trigger, find the board item with Get Item by Column Value, then write the new values with Change Multiple Columns Value.

Can subitems come across too?

Yes. Subitem Created can start its own workflow that creates a Notion database item, for example in a tasks database linked to the parent project.

What if the board has columns Notion does not have?

Only mapped columns are copied. Create a matching property in Notion first, or combine several columns into one text property with Text Formatter.

Can I copy files from a Monday.com file column?

Get File Column Values returns the file details for an item. You can add the file link to a Notion page or comment, which keeps the file in Monday.com and the link in Notion.
