Connect Stripe and Google Sheets

Stripe holds your payment history, but the bookkeeper, the investor update and the monthly review usually live in a spreadsheet. FlowMattic writes Stripe events into Google Sheets as they happen, one row each, in the columns you set. It suits founders, accountants and membership sites who reconcile and report from Sheets.

When Stripe fires Invoice Payment Succeeded, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

Stripe and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every paid Stripe invoice to a revenue sheet

Each successful invoice payment adds a row with the invoice number, customer, amount and date, so month-end totals come from a sheet that is already filled in.

Book USD and EUR charges in separate ledgers

A Router checks the currency of each charge and writes the row to the matching tab, so each ledger adds up in one currency and no one converts by hand.

Record new subscriptions after a short wait

A Delay of a few minutes lets Stripe finish attaching the invoice and customer details to a new subscription, then the complete record is written to your subscriber sheet.

Mark the subscriber row as cancelled when a plan ends

Lookup Row Data finds the row by subscription ID and Update Row fills in the status and end date, so churn shows up on the same list that holds active plans.

Keep a list of open invoices for follow-up

Every invoice Stripe creates is written with its due date and amount, giving whoever chases payments a working list that can be sorted by date owed.

Build a customer directory from new Stripe customers

Name, email and customer ID go into one sheet as each customer is created, which is handy for support staff who need a lookup without access to the Stripe dashboard.

Keep a product and price list in step with Stripe

When you add a product or plan in Stripe, its name and ID are added to a catalogue sheet, so the team quoting prices works from the same list as checkout.

Set up: paid invoices in a sheet

When you are done, each invoice Stripe marks as paid adds one row to your revenue sheet.

  1. Add the header row

In Google Sheets, create columns such as Invoice, Customer email, Amount, Currency and Paid on.

  2. Connect both apps

In FlowMattic Connects, add your Stripe account and a Google account that can edit the spreadsheet.

  3. Trigger on Invoice Payment Succeeded

Create a workflow with Stripe and Invoice Payment Succeeded, then pay a test invoice so FlowMattic captures its fields.

  4. Fix the amount

Add Number Formatter to turn the amount from cents into a currency figure, so the sheet can add it up.

  5. Write the row

Add Google Sheets with Add New Row, map each field to its column, test the step and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Stripe offers triggers but no actions here, so the data only flows from Stripe into the sheet. Editing a row does not change anything in Stripe.
  • Stripe amounts arrive in the smallest currency unit, so 4900 means 49.00. Format the number before writing it if the sheet does sums.
  • Only events from the moment the workflow is switched on are written. Older payments need a one-off export from Stripe, which you can add with Import CSV or JSON to Existing Sheet.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

Stripe and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Financial data goes through your server

Payment records travel from Stripe to your own WordPress site and then to your Google account, with no third automation service holding a copy.

Every payment, no task bill

Runs are unlimited on every plan, so a store with thousands of charges a month logs all of them for the same price as a store with ten.

Your columns, your format

You choose which Stripe fields become columns and how dates and amounts look, so the sheet matches what your accountant already expects.

Common questions

Can I add past Stripe payments to the sheet?

The triggers only see new events. Export the history from your Stripe dashboard as CSV, add it once with Import CSV or JSON to Existing Sheet, and let the workflow add new payments from then on.

Should I use New Charge or Invoice Payment Succeeded?

Use Invoice Payment Succeeded for subscriptions and invoiced work, since each row then has an invoice number. New Charge covers one-off payments that have no invoice. Many people run one workflow for each.

Can one sheet track a subscription from start to cancellation?

Yes. Add the row on New Subscription, then use Subscription Deleted with Lookup Row Data and Update Row to fill in the end date on that same row.

Will refunds show up in the sheet?

There is no refund trigger in the Stripe list for this pair, so refunds are not written automatically. Add them by hand or from a Stripe export.

Can each month get its own tab?

Yes. Format the payment date as a month name with Date/Time Formatter and use it as the sheet name in Add New Row. Create the tabs ahead, or add them with Create New Sheet.
